Please continue to post greenface, you help so many people going to NYC.

We all need each others help & recommendations for our future trips.
I think its best for everyone to ignore or report any unnecessary comments in future- this is the only way to stop the arguing, enough is enough its spoiling peoples enjoyment of posting in this thread and people who have posted for a long time on here are leaving which is a real shame and I only hope they come back. No more please.

Philippa have you made your itinerary yet? what are your plans? :)

Ellis Island is interesting to me but i am interested in Immigration of masses
I didnt fancy it on my first two trips I thought i'd find it quite boring however on my third trip my friend wanted to go to ellis island so I said ok.
I enjoyed it so much and I think going to ellis island really makes you relise what liberty stands for, So much more than a momument she was such a symbol of hope & freedom for so many people when they were on the island.
I could have spend the whole day just on Ellis island, so much information I think its excellent I cant see why anyone wouldnt enjoy it.

I absolutely loved Ellis Island - I was talking about it to someone today. (They were recommending Angel Island in San Francisco - we're hopefully going in the summer.) The tour guide at Ellis Island was fantastic, well worth a trip.

Not done an itinerary yet, I don't tend to plan a great deal, although this time I'm determined to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (I have a ridiculous fear of bridges so I might just back out last minute but we'll see!).

Century 21 - I'm hoping to pick up a couple of dresses for 2 weddings we're off to this year, as well as lots of bargains!
Thinking about a trip to Williamsburg for the shopping too and probably a few beers!
Maybe TOTR on my birthday - considering the sunrise/sunset tour.
I love wandering through Central Park and I'm hoping it'll be better weather this time - last two visits have been in winter.
O/H wants to go to the Natural History Museum so probably a good few hours there.

Other than that, I have my new Lonely Planet NYC guide and we'll just wander.

I took my good lady up on her 40th birthday, after buying her a diamond ring and then getting her name in lights on broadway, how smooth am I, i timed it be up there 30mins before sunset and alas as the sun went down the fog/smog went up and covered the sunset ahhh well it was amazing seeing manhattan light up.

If you time it right and you're into amazing burgers and shakes you could pop to shake shack which is behind the natural history museum, and its a lot quieter than the flatiron shack.

Oh very smooth :D O/H suggested another trip to Tiffanys - we got the diamond ring last time, but I've been trying to decide between a couple of items.

Yes, definitely - I've read about the Shake Shack but never been.

Top of the rock is truly breath taking! Got some great pics!

I went at sunset in December 08 - if you do plan on doing so, buy your tickets the day before or so.

    Have fun!

Why buy the day before? Id rather wait till the day 2 ensure good weather. There are discount vouchers floating about the net too.
We done tiffanys for a bracelet last trip and shes got her eye on a matching ring when we go bak in june

Phillipa, if you are looking for dresses I would have a look at Loehmans if you get a chance. They had loads of designer stuff very cheap. Well worth a look around. I had a juicy couture purse for £30
