To tell ya the truth you really don't need a guide for such places. If it was me i wouldn't bother with esb and do top of the rock instead it's cheaper more open less crowded and u get to see esb in the manhattan skyline. Ground zero is a hole in the ground with a load of building work going on so there is no need for a guide, by the way just recently new yorkers seem to have a problem with the term ground zero, despite the fact they came up with term and still use it in multiple locations. The sol I've never actually been too however I've been past it a good few times o the staten island ferry, which is free. I've never been one for guides, apart from when I was a scout, I prefer to get a book and wander the streets or hop on a tube etc. If u deffo want a guide look into big apple greeters who are free and will take you around the areas you want to go

do it yourself tours or get a greeter . get a map and tick off things close to each other and block see them then move on . ou dont need someone to tell you about ESB or where it is (its up there) I use ESB as my landmark to anywhere to get my bearings ToTR is much better to go up for viewing Go up ESB to say youve done it .Free staten island ferry takes you past SoL never done tour or gone inside the Lady (and thats not like me)Ellis Island is interesting to me but i am interested in Immigration of masses

Im flying with CONTINENTAL from Birmingham on April fools day. Does anybody know how this flight is IFE wise?

    Hi there

All the transatlantic flights should have seat back TVs with films, TV show, radio and computer games all on demand. Certainly every Continental flight I've been on from the UK to USA (and back) has had them over the last few years, since they upgraded them all.

    You'll get earphones free.

Soft drinks free, alcoholic drinks carry a charge.

    Any other questions?

This is supposed to be a nyc thread, not somewhere to annoy people. Everytime i come on here theres some sort of argument about who knows more, who is smarter etc, fyi, nobody cares! Does anyone remember what happened to the boots thread? It got closed down because of certain people. Lets get back on track its all about NYC BABY!!!

Oh, I thought someone had posted some useful advice.
Philippa, lots of people have posted lots of useful advice, but in between, every now and again, someone manages to make the thread argumentative and silly. I suspect marias posted after seeing a few of THOSE posts, but they've now been removed.

and thanks to greenface for being willing to display ignorance, I know what IFE is myself! :rotfl:

I deleted my post - I see no point in carrying on a stupid argument or encouraging posts that aren't about NYC.

I have less than a month to go until my next trip - can't wait :j :j :j
