Just thought I'd update peeps on the hotel we stayed in recently in NY - The Edison. Brilliant location - about 50 yards from TKTS on Times Square. Make sure you ask for a quiet room on check in as we were advised and it looked into a courtyard and was the quietest room I've ever had in 7 trips to NYC.

Let's face it, there's often not a great deal of difference in the rooms in a lot of hotels in NY. This was fairly standard and larger than some. Some friends we met up at were at the Waldorf and said the room wasn't very big and was tired.

There's a fantastic Italian restaurant that some of my friends who were on this trip had eaten in last time, called Sophia's. We ate there twice it was so good. It's mid price range and the food is fantastic!

Good check in service and helpful staff, with a good breakfast diner, although location, location, location probably says it all, certainly if you're a shopper like me! It's usually a great price room too.

It's undergoing a refurb too - lots of new carpets and bathrooms going in, so guess they're working their way through.

richardw - that is a great price. Shame I'm waiting til better weather in May/June (I want to escape London when the Queens Jubilee celebrations is on!), for my next trip. I'm hoping I can do that and get back out for NY Beer Week. Delta are a great airline to fly too.
