Cool - thanks for the feedback. I think you are spot on with the whole being objective thing (I have had very similar comments from elsewhere too). At the moment it is very much in the middle. Although the CityPASS is great if you really want to see those attractions - it is not for everyone (you can even pay a dollar to go into the Met or Museum of Natural History if you so wish). I have put the affiliate link in there because I thought I may as well but now see that it is really not worth the under 10 dollars commission per sale as it does sacrifice the objectivity, which I think is where the site can add value.
I will check out some alternative design options that potentially make the blog section the home page as this is the area that could be of most use to visitors - this is where I aim to include topical events / publicise the pick of localised last minute offers / write about latest bars & restaurants in addition to the generic content (which I see I need to work on). I do like the idea of coming up with four or five Manhattan "Day Plans" that include maps of where to walk and what to see.
There's Christmas to get through first but give me a month or so and I am sure I will be back for more feedback once I have (hopefully) made the site more customer oriented.0 -

Wow talk about money saving:money:
Decided to check hotels.com to see if there were any better deals.
Found the Cosmopolitan for £251. I paid £332 using a £50 voucher that I bought for £10 from Groupon, so it should have been £382.
Quickly booked this new price through Quidco with 12% cashback so £221 in total. That's already a saving of £110 over my old price:D
Then my cancellation confirmation comes through saying i'll be refunded the whole £382:beer:
So that's an overall saving of £150 (including the £10 I paid for the voucher) for the same room on the same dates.
It pays to re-check prices:money: (and also to book cancellable rates)
Mmmmm what to spend this £150 on:)0 -

Although the CityPASS is great if you really want to see those attractions
I don't think it is great value for money, and if you really want to be objective, you'd be doing a comparison of all the available passes, and which offer the best value for money, while giving the tourist a chance to visit NYC as well as NYC's tourist attractions.
I'm now wondering if that is what I should actually do, on the City Pass - Worth It? page of my website (with zero affiliate links, just adverts from google which everyone can see that they are adverts!), I've already posted my opinion a few months ago, and I know I've recently found one of these passes I actually like, so it would be a good place to put an overall comparison, also, that page shows you how it isn't great value for money if you follow some simple steps!
I don't have customers on my website, I have users and contributors. People comment, send me e-mails of thanks, and click on ads that they find interesting, which is always outside the content of the website. I'm not interested in making my site a business which you obviously are, I'm interested in helping people, and an outlet for my awfully epic sarcasm in the process

Of course it does. I've done it myself a few times, with cancelling one rate and rebooking a better room for the same money, or cancelling a hotel booking and booking elsewhere that is better quality for the same money.
Cancellable rates are great, but sometimes are not the cheapest. It's weighing up what is important to you, and also the time you're booking.
The Cosmopolitan has a great reputation on this forum, and recently it's had a bit of an overhaul on its website.
