Hi I've not booked anything at all yet!! Open to any suggestions.
It's just me & my Mum on the trip. And we'll be there for 7 nights.
Spool excited! :j
Have been to virgils BBQ in times square on a sat night. Good wholesome food at reasonable prices. I would go there again.
You can book via top table.
I also liked China grill pricey and huge portions so do order to share I would go there again but order less! Lol
I'm sure there are other great recommendations on here too0 -

Another vote for virgils here, foods pretty good and price isnt to huge but the portions are mahusive!!! Highly recommend the trainwreck fries, just be aware that starters are enough for 2 hungry people and if you order a salad it comes in a mixing bowlLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Phatbear hi a great recommendation from you! Although I didn't try the fries or the cocktails... Next time! Food was delish!0 -
Hi All
I am currently torn between 3 nights (4 days) in New York at Christmas or 5 nights in April! Cost is a big factor as its much better value to go for the 5 nights, in addition I am concerned 3 nights is not enough.
Is 3 nights enough? I am thinking 23rd to 26th December so we can actually be there Christmas day.
Thanks0 -

Hi
If you are going for 3 nights I would say don't attempt to try and fit in too many things.
NYC is magical esp over the holidays, not sure whether lots of places open Christmas day? I'm sure someone will be able to answer.
what's your budget?0 -

Not sure budget wise, around £700 each for the 3 nights which seems feasible looking at Expedia. Probably around £1000 spending for the both of us.
I am really drawn in by the magic of Christmas in NYC, but the Husband is put off by just 3 nights there!0 -
What have you found for £700 each (is there just the 2 of you going) leaving from where the day before xmas eve returning boxing day . Christmas day is like any other city on christmas day in the western world . Places are mainly shut some are open most are shut. Big shops are shut/ lots of foodies stalls small shops places free to visit all shut. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Yes just the 2 of us. Expedia has a fair few hotels and flights at £700 each, W New York £670, Raddison Lexington £646 etc all with Virgin Flights. Quite a few more than I was expecting!
I appreciate there probably won't be much to do Christmas Day, but had a look could do TOTR, Brooklyn Bride and possibly Central Park Zoo. So there is possibly enough to keep us entertained!0 -

The magic will still be there after Christmas too I have been from boxing day for a week the Rockefeller tree etc is still there and as lots of sales are on the streets are crowded and festive! If you do 3 nights try and get great flight times although not always possible with expedia or last minute.
edit - and there is a noticeable difference in the atmosphere when compared to visiting at other times of the year. The 5th avenue star used to be my guide for walking back to the hotel!0 -
Unless you really want to go to NewYork over Xmas. I'd go for the longer trip in April. The cold weather possibly snow will make it difficult to do very much at Xmas as everything will take you a little longer. If you had been before and done all the sightseeing stuff it may be nice just to experience Xmas in NewYork.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
