Morning - I fly to NY 8 weeks today, to say i'm excited would be an understatement!! :j:j:j
Bearing in mind it will be mid December (12th - 20th) and v.busy is there anything I should be looking to book now!!
I though I should at least book a show now but not sure if there's anything else.
Any help would be appreciated.0 -

New York Pass have some kind of a discount each and every month. Don't fall into trp of being rushed to buy.
However, I used them for my family of 4 in Aug and was very pleased. We did all of the main attractions ( ESB,TOTR, SOL, Ellis island, Water Taxis, Madam Tussads, Harry Potter (it was current), WTC centre, and the absolute best was the Central Park Bike tour (get there at 0800 otherwise you are kicked off tour), and more. Wanted to do Intrepid museum but shut too early.
TOTR is better than ESB coz you can see ESB and Central Park. From ESB you can't.
Only disappointment was that they withdrew some guided tours earlier this year which we would have done.
Having an 'unlimited' pass mean we could just hop into something as we passed it if it took our fancy. I also would not have done both ESB and TOTR, I am glad I did both so that I can pass judgement.
The only other attraction we enjoyed, not on our pass, was UN building. DS (age 12) really got into it.
Hope this helps0 -
Whats the best option of seeing the Statue of Liberty without going to Liberty Island.
Is there a ferry that goes around it and returns to Manhatten? What's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...0 -
Well it does'nt go round the statue but the staten island ferry goes past it, close enough for some piccies etc, and its free tooLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

Ah ok didnt know it was free, would you literally stay on the ferry and return again? Is Staten Island a good place to visit too?
I found this, seems pretty good but its 27 bucks

Have to admit ive been on the staten island ferry quite a few times but never looked around the island itself.
You have to actually disembark the ferry when you arrive then rush round to get on the next ferry back, if you want to return straight awayLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Hi
One of the guidebooks I have been reading gives a list of areas to avoid, which includes "Midtown, west of Broadway, excluding Times Square" which seems quite vague, and also is an area containing alot of hotels!
One hotel we have been considering is at 330 West 40th Street (Fairfield Inn).
Can anyone comment on this area please?2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Fairfield inn is 40th & 9th, it will help everyone if you remember cross streets, i cant really see any reason why your guide book would say that, ok the further west you go the more xxx dvd shops etc but they are very few and far between, when ny hiked land taxes in times sq all of the shops which once "graced" the area moved a few blocks over, east of broadway tends to be a slightly more afluent area but 9th will be fineLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
