Thanks! Good point about TOTR, will have to check sunset times so we can time it right.
We're looking direct from Heathrow - direct flights departing AM outbound and departing PM inbound are coming up £500 - £550 each (Delta, KLM, Virgin). I'd be very happy to book at £450 and am willing to wait for them to reduce a little.

What are your dates? I ask as I am on Ba website and they have low prices for the beginning of April £376 return

    From 4th April

Thanks but we're going the 17th-24th, hopefully late-April offers will come up soon!

Finally got my trip booked flying in to Newark on 12 March for 5 days staying the Financial District.

    Just wanted to ask

I'm thinking I'm just gonna take a couple of hundred dollars from home and then using cash machines once in New York which I'm guessing is not gonna be a problem?

Also when visiting the Empire State Building do you book a time slot like you do with a Top of the Rock?

    Thanks

Just make sure you don't have one of the cards from hell - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money

Something like the fair fx card can work out cheaper than using ATM's and your card, if you have one of the worst on the list

Doubtful. The dates are nearly easter, so prices will go up. I think £500 is a reasonable price.

I booked in Jan for similar dates at £520, the prices increased by £60 came down last week ever so slightly by about £40 (I know I shouldn't check again lol) But are back up again

Also is it more expensive to travel at the weekend?

Yes. Midweek departures (tue/wed/thur) including a saturday night, are normally the cheapest days to travel.
  • Hi.
Im hoping to take my DH to NY in December.....it is going to be a surprise, Im finally cashing in my Airmiles (cheers Mr T!) Im debating going for New Year, the Airmiles prices are the same whenever so wont be more expensive, although Im sure the hotels willbe scandalous??

Has any one been for New Year???? We can only manage 3 or possibly 4 nights so not sure if going for NY will be too consuming of time?

Also, do I book flights to JFK or Newark????

Over the easter week and school holidays? Are you sure the flights will get cheaper? Expedia were showing some starting around £485 each at the mo. Did you book the hotel already as you might find some places offer the flights for cheaper if you book the hotel with them at the same time :)

We flew into Newark and back out from JFK, have to say we both preferred the trip into NYC from Newark on the airtrain and train than via the subway and airtrain to JFK. Trip from Newark was more expensive but felt easier to do with luggage than using the subway. Both were easy to do via public transport though.

    Hiya

Please can someone help. Me and DH are going to New York for 3 nights in June (combined NY/SF/YP/LV) 3 week trip - comp win :j
We are staying in Times Square, but want to visit Liberty and Empire State Building, but I'm having trouble finding any links for tickets.
Some of you lovely peeps have mentioned booking online, so googled it and tbh my head is swimming with all the websites advertising, etc.
Can someone please point me in the right direction and recommend a website? Or is it better to get tickets when there? Empire state building is only round the corner from our hotel. But I'm not sure about getting to Liberty. I'm assuming subway then ferry but do we have to pre-book for that?
We are NYC virgins so please bear with us. We have already got some good tips already but just want to make sure we are getting the best deals. Theres some much to take in, tbh I'm struggling a little bit. :o
    Thankyou :T
