I enjoyed ESB, but we were cunning and went first thing in the morning to go up, there were very few queues other than for security and it was a nice experience.
I wouldn't want to go in the middle of the day because I imagine it will be horrendous. But it was nice for us to pop up and have a look.0 -
I didn't do ESB on my 1st trip, but will do both, either very early or late at night0

checked out liberty helicopter tours and cheapest tour $150 pp which is around £95 did you use voucher codes to get that price
cheers patrick:rotfl:
No - guess we were just lucky - it was a couple of years ago we did that but am surprised the prices have gone up that much - sorry I could not be more help.0 -
Hmm. Well my experience of Empire State building, is very different. It is cramped, rushed, and unpleasant, with the platform so tiny, and I felt like I was being ushered around, and down in the quickest possible time.
With the views of iconic ESB available from the TOTR, and you only had time to do one, then the TOTR is the preferred choice. ESB for some reason always has queues, and takes ages to get to the top, whereas TOTR, I'm always in, and to the top within about 10 minutes.
It is NOT the law to do a tourist attraction, pfft, it's all down to personal preference.

I think it was said tongue in cheek! And yes, it is down to personal preference.0 -

That is the best way to do it. It is NOT always heaving at the ESB - we have done it a few times and always go first thing in the morning - never had to wait more than few minutes to get into elevator.0 -
Just a quick question from me today....
If I pre-book a transfer with either Dial7 or Carmel Limo (still haven't decided) am I right in saying I won't have to give credit card details upfront if we're going to pay cash in hand?
Thanks!0 -

and my comment wasn't. hence the pffftt, the sound of me snorting in amusement at the comment. :wall:
Anyway. I jet off to NYC and San Francisco on Tuesday, so I'll bid you all farewell for now. I'll be blogging over on https://www.globified.com/mark and random photos will be posted.0 -

No, you're fine. To be really honest, you don't have to prebook. There are courtesy phones in the airport terminals, so you can just pick up one of those and order a car service there and then. The pre book gives you peace of mind, and also you can take advantage of the coupons that are available.

Hi
We are a family of 4 (2ad and 2 young teens) travelling to New York for the first time. We are staying at Westin Times Square for 4 nights at the end of April and we have a list of places/things we would like to do, but not sure in what order?!
We arrive at approx 2pm and have a transfer booked and paid for already to the hotel. What do you think would be acheivable on our first day? dont want to cram too much in as I know we will be very tired.
This is our list:
TOTR
ESB
Central Park (perhaps lunch at the Boathouse)
Statue of Liberty
Brooklyn Bridge
Shopping - Abercrombie, Macys, Bloomingdales etc
World Trade Centre Site
Rockerfella Centre
Liberty Helicopter Tour( would pre-book)
The View Revolving Restuarant at the Marriott Times Square
Wall Street?
Trump Towers?
I know that most of the above are the usual tourist things but in what order should I do them? Also, are there any other places or things to do/see that I have missed that my two teens would prefer or find more interesting?
Sorry for all the questions but I just need a starting point and a little help before I go! I would like to have a rough itinerary before I go, but not be too pushed for time.
Thanks in advance - and I will keep ploughing through all the old posts for more info!0
