lauh88 - you will probably get prices from Heathrow, but then the problems are how much it costs to get down there, and if you have an AM flight factoring in the cost of the hotel the night before.

There are 2 or 3 airlines that fly direct from MAN, so you should look for flights from Delta or American to JFK, or Continental to EWR. I personally wouldn't consider the Continental flights, as EWR isn't as convenient for public transport as JFK is, especially as close to Grand Central you are.

The other alternative from MAN is to fly with KLM / Delta across to AMS and then head into JFK. I've got that as my option (thanks to delta cancelling a midweek flight), so will find out how good it is in the next few weeks.

Thanks! Prices seem quite high at the moment, £600ish each from MAN and £500ish from LHR. I'm waiting on them coming down a bit, what kind of price would you say is a 'good deal' for that time of year? I was thinking maybe £400ish from MAN and £350ish from LHR but they're just guesses really!

Planning mine and my boyfriends first trip to NYC, sun 17th apr - sun 24th apr (these are the only dates we can do as he has to be back at work on the Tuesday).
Have provisionally booked The Roosevelt with their facebook 20% off code (although it only seems to have taken 10% off...!) but I'm not sure how to go about booking the flights. Can't see any deals for that week yet, what's a reasonable price to aim for per person? We'd fly from Manchester, but if anyone thinks we should go for Virgin/BA we could do Heathrow. All ideas/thoughts welcome! Thanks.

These dates are the week leading into the Easter weekend - I'm not sure whether prices go over those dates but I wouldn't expect them to be too cheap.

Sorry should have said - £850 per person so £1700 total price!!

Why I didn't think of that is beyond me... I'll have a look into things once I'm back home tonight, and see if there are any better deals. It's a little early for hotels, but flights seem to be really weird this year, so if the price is about right, it could be worth booking.

For Heathrow, over easter, I'd say a target price is around £400, and Manchester £500. It's holiday season, and they're expensive.

Usual rules apply, include saturday night, fly out on tuesday or wednesday to get a cheaper price.

£350 is a low season price from any airport, and you won't find that anytime apart from JAN through to about the 15th March

it's not bad.. it's not great.... however, you say travel agent.. you might get a better deal if you plan things using peoples help from this thread, and also the one above/below that is the vegas thread... I'm not a huge fan of travel agents.

i'm just using the travel agent for advice, just trying to see if i could get cheaper flights to ny from glasgow the travel agent was quoting £2250 for 4, flight only. going from another airport is not an option for us so will sit tight for now .

broonbear, if it's any use we've paid £500pp for our flights to NY (well Newark) next month from Glasgow and that's with Continental. And to be honest, I've monitored the same flights ever since and the cheapest I've seen them was around £460.

Not great considering I paid £350pp last year for the exact same flights but with an ADDED flight connection to Florida and back, so things have definitely increased this year!
  • yes ta scottishgirl had a look on their site and the prices were coming in at £546 ish, i'm not going till november but i don't think the price will come down that much
