    Hello
has anyone ever got married in New York . We are getting married in Central park in june

We are looking for a coctail bar / bar , where to spend the time after the wedding finishes , about 2.30pm to 6pm , when we have to leave for our dinner river boat cruise reception

    There will be about 25 people , including 3 children , ages 2, 4 and 16

Our requirements are for a lovely Bar with a Roof top Patio and views across the city . The bar itself to be airconditioned and sells finger food / bites

Not sure about the Bar with the children ?

Anyone got any ides please ? it would be most helpfull

We got married last May in Conservatory Gardens.
We had an evening reception on top of the affinia shelburne - rare view.

However we went on a recce and visited many rooftops, one which would suit your request would be the rooftop ontop of the EMPIRE hotel

The children issue - we had a bit of a nightmare getting past it as we were after 6pm, however the manager agreed as it was a private party and there was only 2.

ive spoke to my brother who went with his girlfriend too new york a few years ago and stayed in the same area the thing he advises more than anything is too bring gloves/hat/warm clothes because this time of year its colder than here he said.

another place he said deffinatlly go is jersey gardens outlet mall its near newark airport he said its mega cheap for shopping..

Between now and the 1st April, there is no City Sales Tax of 4.5% on clothing items under $110, but there IS state sales tax of 4.375% on all clothing purchases.

After April 1, the state sales tax will only be charged on items over $55, so really you need to go shopping after April 1st.

And Jersey Gardens? No Comment, I'd never spend enough to warrant the $20 it costs to get there

Why don't you ring them and ask? Say you're not happy with being sold a 4* hotel when it turns out to be 3* and ask to be transferred to a 4* as a result (get them to list them for you to check up on first).

But at the end of the day as long as the room is clean at the end of the day you'll only be in there to sleep?

P.S. What is the star rating on website of the hotel itself?

Yes, Macy's offer 10%, or it might be 11% off. We had to go to a Customer Service desk to show passport and ask for the card. You then just show the discount card when buying something.

I think Bloomingdale's offers something similar as well.

I can answer this one because it is obvious. Hollister has their own store in Soho, and there is a huge Abercrombie store that has queues outside in midtown, or a smaller one downtown. Here are some addresses for you

    Abercrombie & Fitch - 5th Avenue and 56th Street
Abercrombie & Fitch - Water Street / John Street (South Street Seaport)

Hollister - Broadway / West Houston Street

Not heard of Jack Wills, so can't help there. Just because I don't like shopping doesn't mean I don't know anything about it. Shopping in New York itself is great, I just disagree with spending money to go to an outlet mall to buy last years styles. ;)
