  • Is there any one source of info for live gigs in NY, ticketmaster seems most comprehensive but misses loads. Desperately want to see a gig while we travel NY-LV-LA-SF on our honeymoon, preferably in NY, just miss Kylie and Script but want to see an English indie band! Any thoughts?

One of my favorites is BB Kings Blues Bar http://www.bbkingblues.com/calendar.php see some decent (not modern day singers) here in the past Oleta Adams is on soon . John Waite ,John Mayall always been a good show even the tribute bands are a cut above the normal . Seen the Commitments here (march 07) Boys II Men (March08) & recently poppa chubby (nov 10) prices are normally good except chuck berrys was there NYeve and i think it was about $230 each,

try https://www.ohmyrockness.com for indie gig listings in NYC, much better for the smaller bands, and venues.

I've booked tickets to see Anna Clavi when I get into NYC next month.

  • Does anyone have any feedback on the hotel Mela? Can get it for 1033 dollars for 5 nights from 25th to 30th April and looks good on the website.

We're going for my boyfriend's 30th, so would be nice to say somewhere quite special, but don't want to spend a bomb. Can I do better than 1000 dollars for 5 nights in a boutique hotel in midtown Manhatten?

    Hi there
Have you looked at reviews on Trip advisor http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g60763-d612263-Reviews-Hotel_Mela-New_York_City_New_York.html

I have not read them all, but the first couple look[STRIKE] ok [/STRIKE] very good!

I have also emailed people who have posted on TA and have had some useful replies

Just wondering where you saw the rate? Does it include all taxes?

    Hi guys,

I am busily booking the rest of my trip and waiting patiently for hotel deals for the end of April to come out...at the moment I only seem to be getting rack rate when I search.

Any ideas when deals for the end of April will be available? And do they all tend to come out at the same time?

I am holding out for the Strand (which I have irrationally taken a fancy to) or the Waldorf Astoria (which hubby really wants to stay at!).

Oooo - unless anyone knows of a hotel where we can get 2 double beds and a balcony!! (at a reasonable price of course) We would love to be able to sit out with a beer after we have put the kids to bed!!

Finally, is there a polar bear in Central Park Zoo? (sorry for such a strange question!!)

Looks like the offer on Travelzoo to me - runs up to the end of May with certain blackout dates:

I'd probably say early for NYC but thats just me.
I booked for 2008 in the December of 2007 - We had a largish group so had to work quite quickly to accomodate everthing we needed.
Have you tried pricing up via a travel agent/ online as a package and then separatley etc to get an idea of pricing?
