Just wanted to suggest a possible NY view bar for you ladies! 230 5th Ave is open from 4pm and has amazin views of the ESB with top cocktails or beer/wine if you prefer - no entrance fee and great heated tables with optional blankets and dressing gowns to keep cosy - totally sex and the city! me and my sis visited in Oct and it was a total highlight - only had one drink (about 10$ each) but totally got that NY vibe and a fantastic memory! enjoy, whatever you do.0

Hello.
Firstly I'd like to say that this is a fantastic section with bundles of information and is a joy to read.
My partner and I are looking to visit New York this year. We're thinking of going between the months of June - September for around 4 days to a week. Obviously we're looking to get it as cheap as possible but also want to have a really nice trip. We're preferably looking to stay in a nice hotel within a short distance of most things.
I'm wondering whether any of you can give me some advice of which month is best to go price wise, when it is best to book it and who it is best to book it through as I'm no good at these things.
Thanks.0 -
go into a few travel agents to get the feel and check out a few maps on google to see where things are . Firstly we went around a few and if from memory as there was five of us (3 kids) (1 wheelchair user) We found a decent deal in the Hilton Times square 2 rooms . Then armed with this i bettered the standard alot and lowered the price a little through Last Minute . com upgraded to The Westin Times Square 2 top rooms on the 44th floor and knocked a few bob off the price too. Expedia came close but a better airtime was found or split through hotel connexions, opodo, airline direct websites, fly . com flightchecker etc .. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

We've seen a couple and they average around £300 for flights in Feb but I would imagine they'd be a bit more pricey around June.
Is that £940 that Judderman posted pp? If not that's a bargain!
What sort of price do you think we would be paying for a 4-7 nights around June-Sept?0 -
7 nights about £700/£800 each (for two people) 2 £350ish flights = (£700) 7 nights $200 about £130ish(£900) plus your transport to the airport and back .
4 nights £700 flights £500 hotels about £600 each (for two) hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Don't think we need a new thread until this one reaches the forum threshold really. Why take up more space?
Maybe next one needs to not mention the year so it won't be so specific?0 -

i have been a couple of times and find you do not need to be staying in the heart on times square to be near everything.the subways in NYC are a breeze to use to get you all around NYC quicly and easily so my advice would be look further out as it will be better priced.
1st time i went stayed here http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=421 5 minute walk from TS nice place but pricey.
last october stopped here http://www.themavehotel.com/ really nice place at the right price and a good location just down road from flatiron building with easy access to subway stops.
not sure if it makes a difference but it will be 10th anniversary of 9/11 this year so could make prices in september more expensive????0 -
Hi there
Happy New Year!
I am after opinions on booking Virgin premium economy? worth the extra for legroom and service?
Thanks0 -
The Premium Economy question is always up for debate.
Personally I wouldn't want to fly transatlantic without it. For the following reasons
- first boarding ( I am a nervous flyer and the sooner I am in my seat the less chance I have of having a problem getting on the plane)
- additional space is lovely when you want to relax. It isn't as big as sitting in your armchair, but it is a nice compromise on the price/space issue
- additional luggage allowance is fabby, esp for all the bargain deals
- priority luggage unloading. This time when we got back the luggage came around as we were walking through to the carousel. Properly lovely to be able to grab and go.
However, I know other people don't value it for the price, so it is all horses for courses.0 -

Hi LadyS
Thanks for the reply
Just wondering about price - I have seen some flights advertised premium E as £190 but then have seen others for £600+
Do they put the prices up when the flights are getting full?
Thanks0
