Just wondering if there are sales on in NY in January.
Looking at going there and arriving on 31/12 till 5/1, but only for shopping!
I also remember seeing on here a while back, a hotel which came highly recommended, but I can't remember which one it was.0 -

January sales are worldwide so nearly all your retailers have a after xmas clearout sales, more clothes than jewlery. As for hotel :xmastree::xmastree:

Yeah I'm mainly interested in Clothes... we went last year just before Christmas and the sales werent that great. So am just wondering if they have actual January sales or whether they are just ending in Jan!?
The hotel... I really cant remember... it was a hotel that was always suggested and loads of people from here stayed there!0 -

Hi everyone!
Am heading to NYC for Xmas this year for a few days.
I have tried searching this thread for the answer but it is so long!
What is the best (and cheapest!) way to get from JFK to our Manhattan hotel? Have seen various companies online but don't know what the going rate should be?
Thanks!
i found the taxi from JFK-manhattan to be best option as said flat fare of $45 plus tolls and tips so budget around $60-65.
carmel and lincoln limousine are similar price to yellow cab but it says in small print if flight is delayed there is only a certain time they will wait at JFK before adding $ for waiting.
the airtrain and subway are cheaper but personally i could not be bothered carting luggage around the subway network.
i used lincoln liousine on way back to JFK think cost was $69 all in.
if you use a cab at JFK just make sure you go to the proper rank where an attendant will give you a slip and direct you to driver, there were loads of chancers outside terminal asking if you need a car some of them were very pushy and followed you across the road desperate for business.0 -

theres one by me just outside Livepool and loads elsewhere too .. PLEASE more info where are you staying means you could spend $12 finding a machine that charges nil when there is a bank close that charges $5 per go to withdraw your loot. Or find a card that lets you withdraw for free and top it up on line or by phone i remembered caxton fx card had a good u.s $$ deal
I've got a card which lets you withdraw for free. It's a Halifax Clarity, I thought ATMs in the USA now charges a fee (a lot like the ones in pubs etc here).
Anywhere in midtown will do.0 -
It would depend on the card you were using as to charges.
The only bank I found which didnt charge for withdrawal was 'Chase' they are all over the city. My card is a Fairfx mastercard.New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.
No place in the world that can compare ♥ 2nd October 2010 ♥0
