  • I am trying to book car pick-up from JFK but the site won't let me enter my UK mobile number. Anyone used them successfully and if so how did you get over this problem. Thanks.

Just a thought, but are you using the format 00 44 and lose the first zero from your mobile number? It probably wouldn't like one starting 07816, for example, but if you did 00 44 78 16 it might work. Experts will confirm or deny this ...

Has anyone been to new york in feb? just wondered what the weather was like.

We went in Feb 2007 and it snowed on our second night, woke up to 3 feet of snow and it was ACE! Built a snowman in Central Park, had hot chocolate in Starbucks whilst watching the snowploughs clear 5th Avenue, made the trip even better for us. America takes the snow in their stride as opposed to us, who come to a total standstill every year and are so surprised when our councils are unprepared!

We stayed at The Belvedere on West 48th Street, a stone's throw from Times Square, great hotel and not too huge.

  • We arrive in New York the evening before Thanksgiving and was thinking of pre-booking somewhere nice for Thanksgiving evening online before we go. Anyone have any good ideas ? We ate at Tao on our last visit that was lush but fancy something a bit more traditional American this time (not McDonalds lol) We're staying at the Hotel Stanford so near to Times Sqare/Macy's area. I've been to NYC several times but normally on girly shopping trips and foodhas always been an after-thought!

If you want a good steak (and they do other stuff too) try Shulas Steak House http://www.donshula.com/ best ive ever had . For more American buffalo wings fries big plates ect. Ive noted down but never been Mudville9 as been tipped here (may have been M4rk)some time ago, not far from The World Trade site . But NYC is full to bursting of decent diner to experiance the NYC foodies .Try a decent Italian so NYC.

    Hello,
Could you tell me if I read on here that when traveling to nyc via Dublin you go through the security checks in Dublin and if so is 1hr 15 mins enough time for this. This is a flight with Aer Lingus and the stopover is this amount of time.
    Thanks for your help

I made it off the plane and through security easily in that time (and it took 10mins just to get from the plane to the terminal!) in Amsterdam. As it's a through ticket that must be enough time, otherwise unless you've got something on you that holds you up surely the airline should sort it out if you miss the connection?

I'm off to NYC on Tuesday (after 3 days in LA) bit of a mental schedule:

    Land in NYC: 8:07
    Get to hostel: 11:00
    Finish break down: 11:05
    Lunch: 12:00
Wander around – Central Park, times square, Ground zero, Macys, Barneys.
    NBC Tour – 16:00 (16:30-18:00)
    Dinner (Subway)
    Rockefeller – 18:40
    More food (proper)
    Sleep 21:00
    Wednesday 8th
Washington! (coach trip leaving at 7am, back at 11pm)
    Thursday 9th
    Breakfast (American) - 10:00
    Bus Tour – 11:00
Statue of Liberty Ferry - 13:30
    Lunch – 14:30
Journey to the stars – 15:00
    Toys R Us – 15:30
    Museum of sex 13:30
    Dinner Little Italy – 17:30
    Night Tour – 19:00
    Empire State Building – 22:00
    Sleep – 23:00
    Friday 10th
Breakfast (Hard rock caf!) – 10:00
    Un tour – 11:00
    Time Warner Mall/anything else – 12:00
    Lunch – 13:00
    Airport – 13:30

As you can see I've given myself time for a mental breakdown after the overnight flight and according to my friend I don't need sleep

Im looking at a flight next june to new york with Delta airlines

Opodo have a price of £330 a person , but if you use the code AMEXFLY and pay with an Amex card , the price is £295

So would you jump now and pay £295 a person or wait and see if it becomes cheaper at Xmas ? the code will prob be invalid then

    Thoughts please

................ Just read terms , discount is per booking , so not each person . so for two of you its £312.50 each , unless you book 2 people on seperate bookings and hope to sit together lol !!
  • Hi All!

Just wondering if anyone has done a helicopter ride over New York? I'd like to do it and wondered if anyone can recommend the best way to book this? Also, was it worth doing? ;)

    Thanks!
