Hello,
Could you tell me if I read on here that when traveling to nyc via Dublin you go through the security checks in Dublin and if so is 1hr 15 mins enough time for this. This is a flight with Aer Lingus and the stopover is this amount of time.
Thanks for your help0 -
whatever anyone answers here (and i dont know) dont take their word .IMO you are cutting it short but airports can work and flow through quickly .Phone the airport and the airline find out and write down the name of the person you are talking to (try for more snior duty manager etc)and question them write it down then repeat what theve said back to them so they understand what theve told you . Is your stop over in Dublin & where are you comming from to get to dublin ??have you booked a through ticket or seperate tickets >?? hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Dizzybee went Feb 16th 2007 and it was FFFFrrrezzin but was a bit of a freak weather Even New Yorkers were moaning about the cold . Minus 70 in the air minus 7 on the ground and minus 17 on ToTR took 2 hours to thaw the plane doors and case was like a block of ice.
Central Park was beautiful untouched snow and ice . Shops had heaters on to max so coats on coats off sweat and freeze .
Jeanna through ticket should be ok (they know your there) inform every one that you are catching a onward flight and dont dilly dally expecting the plane to sit and wait for you on the tarmac enjoy NYC:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -

please make up my mind for me!
I have booked flights for 16/02 -21/02 for myself and my partner as a surprise for his 40th birthday but can't decide between 3 hotels! It's hard when there's no one to discuss it with!
The New Yorker
The Hilton Times Square
Wyndham Garden Midtown Convention Centre Hotel
Theyre all pretty much the same price and all get good reviews on trip advisor Help!0 -
I'm struggling to find a cheap hotel for my trip
looks like it'll have to be a hostel as our budget for accommodation is only about £90 a night for 7 nights for a room with 2 beds, the one that we found affordable was the carter hotel but it was voted the dirtiest hotel in america 3 years running so thats a no-go

Just back after a stunning trip to NYC for my wife's 40th birthday so thought we'd post our itinerary as may be of help to some...
We booked a package through Thomas Cook Signature which included flights, hotel, transfers, airport parking etc.
We flew with Delta from Manchester who were very good, we stayed at the Intercontinental, The Barclay on 48th st which was excellent & our transfers were with GO airlink who were also fine.
We arrived at our hotel at approx 4pm on Thursday afternoon so we used Thursday evening to unpack, get our bearings and wandered into Times Square, where we had dinner before an early night to prepare for our first full day.
FRIDAY
After an early rise on the Friday morning we purchased the hop-on hop-off open top bus tour tickets from our hotel concierge, we bought the 'all loops for 72 hours' ticket for 103 US dollars as we wanted to use the buses as a means of transport as much as a tour guide. We took the downtown loop at 8am and got off wherever we fancied for a look around, the buses run every 15 mins so its no problem getting another bus after a short stop off at the various locations. We also visited the Top of Rock observatory deck at the Rockefellar Centre in the afternoon which provides amazing views across all of Manhatten.
We took the Night loop tour on Friday evening which was amazing providing the perfect picture postcard photo opportunity of the Brooklyn Bridge & the NYC skyline at night.
SATURDAY
On Saturday morning we used our bus ticket to get to Ground Zero where we had pre-booked Uncle Sam’s Ground Zero Walking Tour which was absolutely excellent, a fascinating insight to the horrific developments of 9/11.
We then took the free Staten Island Ferry which sails directly past the Statue of Liberty which was breathtaking in itself.
We spent Saturday evening having dinner & mulling around in Times Square - wow, what a place on a Saturday night.
SUNDAY
After 2 x days of gorgeous sunny, hot weather, we awoke on Sunday to torrential rain which was slightly disappointing but refreshing as well. We did the Uptown bus tour (with Ponchos lol) which takes in Harlem & Central Park amongst others. We visited Grand Central Station which was amazing. Remarkably Madison Avenue was closed to traffic on the Sunday for a street market festival which had stalls, live music, street dance etc which was fascinating to walk around.
On Sunday evening we saw Mamma Mia on Broadway which was a truly incredible production. We bought our tickets on the day of the production however, we didn't fancy the 2 hour queues at the TKTS Booth so we opted for the Times Square Tourist Information Centre instead & we got our 2 x tickets for 140 dollars. The show was spectacular.
MONDAY
We walked along 5th avenue taking in some of the shops and spent a couple of hours in Macys due to the rain before just generally walking around town taking in Broadway, Bryant Park, the UN headquarters & Little Italy.
TUESDAY
After checking out of our hotel we visited Central Park & in particular the Strawberry Fields area which is dedicated to John Lennon directly opposite the Dakota Building where he was killed.
The park is amazing and I guess we probably ought to have spent more time here had the weather been better.
We then headed to JFK mid afternoon to catch our early evening flight back to the UK.
A thoroughly enjoyable trip - My advice would be, make a list of the things you want to do/see and try & build an itinerary before you go - purely because there is so much to see & do. And take plenty of one dollar notes, the Americans love their tips!!
I hope this helps anyone who like us may be visiting NYC for the first time.0 -
WSforever great report & thanks for sharing I think a list is the best but leave enough spaces in the list to enjo the things we dont know about >NYC is like a film set as you pass a street or go down any avenue you get the "I KNOW THIS PLACE AND IF I TURN THIS CORNER THIS IS HERE" ja vue syndrome . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
