If I did tell her she'd probably talk me out of it, she's so unselfish and thoughtfull she would just say it's a waste of money lets spend it on the house instead and get a take-away & dvd.
She really is a hard person to treat.

My hubby suprised me with a trip to NY. I have no passion for shopping/satc, however it was one of the greatest gifts the hubby has got me.
He booked it, then told me straight away we were going, so I could plan things I wanted to do.
I loved it so much I took him the following year.
NY is much more than shopping.
We stayed at the Roger Smith first time and the Affinia Gardens second time around.
I can highly reccomend both of those.
The Roger Smith is very central, just a 2 minute walk to Grand Central and pretty much next to the Chrysler.
The Affinia is more like an apartment, so is perfect if you dont want to go out for every meal, as it had a proper kitchen.

Hope that helps make your mind up:D.
In other words just do it.

That would definitely be the way to go, IMO, if Mike thinks it's right and doesn't want his lovely lady to talk him out of it.

My OH has booked a few trips away for me Budapest, Barcelona and Rome. I have loved them all. He has given me at least 2 weeks notice of them. Can you give her some notice so she can research what she wants to do? I'm not a big shopper but I just know there are loads of things that I want to do in NYC. Part of the fun is the build up to your holiday, researching things like restaturants and things to do in the evenings.
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!
  • Hi i hope someone can help, my fiance has just surprised me by saying he is treating me to a longed for trip to New York for 4 days 3 nights. As a massive fan of the group Blondie we are seeing them at the Nokia Theatre and plan to do as much as we can in the remaining days. My questions are i have searched on expedia for flights/hotel package dates we are going are 30 Aug to 2nd Sept. My other half has taken to The Strand as it has a roof top Bar/Restaurant and he knows how much i love the lights at night and says this would be magical. Could anybody give us a review of this hotel the best price so far flying with Virgin is £1660.00 is this reasonable or could we get it any cheaper by doing something different. Also been looking at the Ramada New Yorker as many people seem to be impressed so really torn between the two. Thank you for any help/advice you can give..:)

a company called Screentours do a Sex & the City tour, if your daughter is interested. I went on another of their tours and enjoyed it.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

Have you done daytime flights NYC-Lon? Are the affects of jet lag less?

I have, and I still had pretty horrid jetlag, but I get jetlag going to Europe! I suppose the principle is still the same, changing your body clock as soon as you are ready to leave?
    Gone ... or have I?
