PeteW wrote:Well in this thread, it is suggested that $55 a night will get you the Hyatt Regency. Which is apparantly 20 minutes from central manhatten, ie closer than a lot of Manhatten! However as mentioned in that thread, I'm having absolutely no luck trying to secure a booking, do any experienced Priceliners have any suggestions?+
Have you posted on BetterBidding?
Good for you!
My brief tips re the Hyatt
The best priceline rate is usually available on Friday and Saturday night as the businessmen have gone.
When the hotel web-site rate is about $140 then that's usually a good indicator of a low PL rate.
Also when Hotwire
4* Newark (Jersey City)
Restaurant, pool, fitness center, high-speed internet, business center
has a cheap rate then Pl is usually lower.
You can use the US site Post 7

...but, using priceline (for example), I have found a few 3* hotels (with pool, fitness centre, restaurant & airport shuttle) situated at Newark Airport (rather than JFK which is approx 22 miles away) for only $55 to $84 per room per night!!
Hope this helps.
Did you win any of these hotels using PL and if so what were they?0 -
BTW If you have booked flights to the US, you can often submit your Advanced Passenger Information (API) via the airline's website. I've done this with BA before.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

It looks like the BA website / system allows users to do this but the AA site doesn't - which explains the differences in opinion between us.

Thanks action girl, have reserved my seats for outbound and return. I'm just going to leave it and give all the info at check in.

PATH cost $1.50, NYC Metro is $2.00 per ride, but you can get various day or week passes for the Metro
If you're feeling flush you can catch the ferry (Colgate\Exchange Place) which is about $6.00 to Lower Manhattan or 39th Street.
Takes about 4 minutes to get from Exchange Place (using the PATH metro) to the New World Trade Centre Station which is in lower Manhattan.
Then change to the NYC Metro to go uptown.
Total time about 20 mins, cost $3.50
Here's a Betterbidding forum post that has details, links (and pictures!)0 -
Hi all,
After searching through lots of hotels, i am beginning to think my 6 days will cost me far too much.
As there are 5, maybe 6 of us going to NYC, do you think an apartment is a way to go??
been looking at:
http://www.woogo.com/accommodation/results/3ll049tavboudb5k7fq0dh6h81/page1.html
Any good? Is Upper West Side good?
Anyone know much about apartments in NY? I suppose 6 people means 2 bed (4 epople) plus a sofa bed (2 people).
Any toher good places to look for apartments??

I wanted to book theHilton Millenium in NY in Sept.
I read betterbidding and spent many hours on Priceline but with no luck.
...and then in exasperation went back to the Hilton site and starting changing dates.
Hilton Millenium in New York has some sweet spot dates for £85 a night (local tax is added) though September and October. I have stayed here before -- it is very very nice (and right opposite the subway and PATH).
