I don't think being a property bull on HPC is a problem, the bulls I've seen get banned are generally deserving of it for behaviour regardless of opinion.

Nope. Just not having the 'right' view is enough for a ban.

Indeed, although given that you and I disagree about most things and I got a ban too, goodness knows what that "right" view is.

Perhaps they're all public sector employees :rotfl:

Not my first guess given the general disregard towards public sector workers on there ;)

    • property prices to drop 70%
That represents a rather bullish change of heart from some on HPC.co.uk. It used to be 90% falls !!!!!!

if you can't see it - it's probably because the views on here are more balanced and the guys on HPC.co.uk live in they're tiny little illusionary dream world :)

I'll put it down to a large quantity of the more vocal views on here being just as unbalanced as many of the more rampant bears on HPC. Both parties on the far sides of the fence, and I do include you here, appear to try and see evidence to support their side of the arguement in any news or figure, and if this isn't possible discard it.

HPC forums may be a little like a insular group all preaching to the converted at times, but it seems a lot like that here at times and although the common opinion in the two forums is different a lot of other things about them are depressingly alike.

  • I didn't start this thread, I merely commented on it. Am I now forbidden from discussing HPC?

You on the other hand, have a clear obsession about my comments. Almost stalker like...... I do hope you're not this obsessed with people in real life.

Your fear and desperation are clear, when you have to resort to obsessive trolling of me to try and distract from the truth.

    You've had your crash.

    It's over.

You really need to just accept it and move on.

My question to you was :-

If the site is discredited why do you still obsess over it. I am curious ?

Could you please answer the point posed and not the one you wish was posed.

    Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with HPC wanting to be a forum of like minded individuals all agreeing with each other and poking fun at authority/the government.

However it does tend to make the debate rather in-bred and incestuous. It certainly appears to lack any form of balance now. I hardly read the forum now although I popped over to see what Turnbull had done wrong.

The banning of people like Turnbull seems to make no sense as they have never trolled the place. Valerius was one of the more considered Bulls as well.

The banning of other trolls was merited based on their posting history. But then you will find they were banned many months ago, and prior to the recent bans of the more thoughtful bull posters. However where HPC fell down was not banning trolls like Renterbob and Fossildog. I stopped reading the forum in earnest when the mods took no action against the vile pro-BNP trolls prior to the Euro elections.

Although there are one or two frothers in this forum on either side of the debate by and large this forum is a pleasure where people can discuss and agree civilly. Not everyone is wedded to stridently being right or wrong on the prospect for house prices. It is just fun to debate it and interesting for the wider economy. You are right people seek to reinforce their debate with evidence and disregard evidence that challenges their prevailing view. Such is the nature of debate especially political discourse.

Personally I find Chucky to be rather measured and thoughtful in their posts.

if i was the opposite side i would have claimed that we would have rampant HPI will happen, interest rates will be at 0.5% for the next 10 years or that that unemployment would sharply decrease.

i've not claimed any of these so how can i be on the far side of the fence to "the know it alls" that get it constantly wrong on HPC.co.uk?

I get called a fence sitter quite a bit on this forum. I think it says a lot about the ethos of this place that if you proclaim uncertainty about the direction of house prices and don't subscribe to either 70% falls or becoming a millionaire in ten years from owning a bedsit you get called a 'fence sitter'.

I have very strong opinions on a lot of stuff, but I am genuinely not sure whether house prices will go up or down in the short / medium term (and am quite pursuaded by a lot of the arguments for both price falls and rises), so happy to be honest about that. It's a nice place to be in all honesty: I can read articles posted by both Dopester and Hamish and see valid, interesting arguments in both. :)

Stats are generally worthless, so many if's & but's, too many built in unrealistic assumptions, usualy compiled by people far from the 'reality' of the coal face.

Best method is too allow your mind to be open to the dynamics of your local market.

If you want to see empty agents you will see them, but if you observe with a truly open mind and discourage yourself from seeking facts that fit your pre - determined view, you can get a fair idea of what's really going on.
