that doesnt happen, they dont change the barcode like that, ive worrked in retail so i know how it works, when a price changes they change the price on the system(its doen by HO and not the store) and the price controller will print off new tickets for any new price changes and put the new tickets out, there is no adding new barcodes to items
It happens on items that are nearly out of date or damaged, to distinguish them from the normal items that are still in store.
If a line has simply been reduced, they change the price on the system, they don't add a barcode- as you note.
Perhaps the OP is getting confused with that?0 -

Please stop spamming.
[EDIT] - I notice someone else has already pointed this out.
Nonetheless, the point remains. Why literally copy-and-paste something - especially when it has nothing to do with overcharges?0 -

i decided to call the customer services helpline.........so much for HELPline!!! i was met with a similar response, she also outlined that these offers were subject to availability as stated in their advertisements so basically tescos make sure they cover their back dont they?
i just feel that its a bit of a scam!!
i regularly shop at sainsburys but after seeing the advertisement for the half price legs of lamb i obviously decided i would do my shop at tescos. i was lucky that i had time on my side and after my experience at this supermarket i simply went to sainsburys and bought what i needed from there. But how many people, especially ones with children and busy lives simply said "right im here now so i'll just do my shop here" because they were simply too busy to go elsewhere? how many extra customers did this promotion bring through tescos doors? i do not believe that they had 'run out' or not ordered enough i believe its a calculated way of ripping people off!!!
i know without a doubt that if i was busy today i would simply have continued my shop at tescos and bought an overpriced joint of beef instead and i feel that there were probably hundreds perhaps thousands of people today who did just that!!!

its not a scam, some stores may have got some of the lamb but not others,0 -

don't attack me(anyone) personally, that is really bad. Please be a part of good healthy conversation.
im not attacking you, only 1 barcode will scan as that barcode corresponds to a unique number which is stored on the system and when the barcode is scanned it goes through at the price thats on the system, the other barcodes that are on the item wont scan as the till wouldnt recognise the barcode, electrical items may look as thoguh they have 2 or 3 barcodes on them but only 1 will scan and the other 2 are most likely security tags which have a barcode but the barcode wouldnt be recognised, like i said ive worked in retail for yearsIt happens on items that are nearly out of date or damaged, to distinguish them from the normal items that are still in store.

yes yellow stickers but they wouldnt be used for high priced or electrical items0 -

How funny you should say this, just a couple of weeks ago I bought a hard drive that was reduced because of a damaged box, with a completely different barcode sticker to the full priced ones that were also on sale.
When I went to pay both barcodes scanned because the old one wasnt covered up properly, and the full priced one had to be removed.
To say this doesn't happen with electrical items is just wrong, maybe you don't know as much of how tescos works as you think you do?
Its entirely possible that the op bought a reduced hard drive and the old full price barcode was scanned0 -
