overcharging at the till is a different matter to invitation to buy. however, I find it strange you didnt notice at the time you were overcharged by £30.
I think though if you can prove Tesco were offering this item in store at the £49 and you paid £79 Tesco would refund the difference.
Also, as it sounds like a larger store (to stock these items) how come there wasnt a manager available? or a deputy manager? dont they all work shifts these days (day, night managers?)
perhaps I am not reading your post correctly or something - but it all sounds a bit iffy to me!
  • I'm not sure how can i prove i'm overcharged. I can believe my eyes and memory that's the only proof and i've my £79 receipt that is it.

Even i been to Tesco so far 2 times regarding this, if someone says no i'm not, how can i prove.

  • i brought my husband that seagate hard drive from tesco for christmas, as he got a new laptop and needed it for file storeage i got it on 22nd dec paid £79.99 thought that it was a good buy as other makes were a lot more, i had been looking for a number of weeks at the external drives, did have a 350gb drive for around £50 mark perhaps you spotted the wrong label. i doubt yo will get your money as when i have been overcharged, the assistant always goes to the product in question to check against your receipt as it was so long offers only run for about 3 weeks.
  • At this stage I can't help but wonder if the hard drive we're all talking about was ever £49 pounds - surely it wouldn't be that difficult for Tesco to check what was the last price they had for this product. Case of looking at the wrong label or something like that as Blue Cat suggests?

Come on tell us how you didn't notice at the till.
  • /* Come on tell us how you didn't notice at the till. */ As i said before i never check my bills but not anymore from this incident.

Anyway today went to Tesco customer service, i was told i would have to go back to the local store where i bought tesco dont sell this item here like that. I was bit strong to them it cannot be like that i told 'if i had bought in leeds do i have to go back to get it back since i'm in london'. they could not answer.

Meanwhile my another friend who bought the hdd on the same day found receipt for£49(i advised to buy him after i bought). I could go back to the local strore and get it replace or get money back but i would have to spent £50 more for that, not worth.

I told them to refund my money meanwhile that girl called her manager and and she called another manager, everyone was staring at me like a thief and security guy came. But never bothered me that was my rights to ask.

Got my money £79, not going to buy from Tesco anymore, what a bad experience.

You got a refund what more do you want??

As for not shopping in Tesco anymore thats your choice, but the phrase cutting your nose off to spite your face springs to mind.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

If i'm a selfish yes that's enough for me, but i'm not. I'm just sharing my experience and knowledge with others. Hopefully good experience here too.

Well i for one think you did the right thing sticking at it.Tesco DO get things wrong ,and in answer to the person who queried the 'double the difference' policy, yes it still applies. If you were buying other stuff at the time ,it is not always apparent you have been overcharged. The only mistake you made was not checking straight away, and if the store was very busy and you just wanted to get on,then even that can be overlooked.

Tesco earn millions in profit, how much of it in wrongly charged items that customers never check? Glad you got your money back anyway.

Few of us would dispute that. Glad you got your refund OP, it's been annoying but you got a result.
