Tesco overcharged me

Well i for one think you did the right thing sticking at it.Tesco DO get things wrong ,and in answer to the person who queried the 'double the difference' policy, yes it still applies. If you were buying other stuff at the time ,it is not always apparent you have been overcharged. The only mistake you made was not checking straight away, and if the store was very busy and you just wanted to get on,then even that can be overlooked.
Tesco earn millions in profit, how much of it in wrongly charged items that customers never check? Glad you got your money back anyway.
Everyone makes mistakes, that doesn't mean tesco did it with intention. Its still upto you to ensure an error hasn't occured, come on take some responsibility.
Either way Tesco's refunded the OP they aren't legally required to do anymore.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Glad you got a resolution to this but I still for the life of me can't understand how you didn't notice when the cashier said "seventy nine pounds please" at the checkout.0

I'm more surprised by the fact that your friend went and got one and paid the correct price £49 on the same day. Prices usually only update overnight to the tills as they have to close down and reopen totally to download the new prices. This is usually done at some point between 11pm and 2am. The tills automatically close down and take about 15 minutes to download and reboot. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

A|t the point of sale, you suddenly were unable to do simple arithmatic and handed over £79 cash for an item you could have bought for £49?
I would ask for a refund and go and see an optician to have your eyes tested0 -

I bought loads of stuff on that day christmas eve or 1 day before. Cashier said some money 100 something. I thought that included my £49 only in the bill.0 -
/* Everyone makes mistakes, that doesn't mean tesco did it with intention. */ i agree with you, but the thing here is apologies don't treat customer as a robber. Be polite with people who comes for exchange or replacement or information.0

If your friend bought exactly the same product at exactly the same time as you its more likely to have been an error on your part where by you have picked up a 1.5tb instead of the 1tb or you friend has picked up a 500gb. The tills dont chane the prices themselves after each customer.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

I'm not sure how it works, it looks like they scanned the wrong item label for me. My concern is Tesco not treating customers fairly.0 -

there is only 1 barcode on the item, there arent various barcodes that are different prices, its either a case of the item was priced wrong or you mis-read the shelf edge label
