I bought external HDD 1 TB segate around christmas time for 49£(displayed £49) in swindon, but never checked the bill, just checked the bill they charged me 79£, went to local shop with bill, first time was told need to bring with hdd, next day went to shop with hdd, now they say no manager in the shop visit monday.

What's the procedure for this to get the money back.

Thanks

so almost 28 days later you claim to be overcharged ? best of luck mate
i am not sure your going to get anywhere as you would have to prove that it was not meant to be that price and as its 28 days later they wouldnt have the same signs etc

1TB @ £49 sounds a bit cheap for Tesco TBH
  • Still the price in the store is £59 only for 1 TB external HDD, Hopefully they would give me some money back.

Ahh so what your really saying is you paid £79 for it a while a go and the price has now dropped to £59 and you want them to refund you the difference. Why didn't you just say that.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
  • No when i bought that time display was on 49£ only, i dont know the reason why they billed me 79£.

That was on tesco web site as well, i'm saying tesco made a mistake.

So just to clear this up - are you saying that the hard drive was advertised at £49 and when you went through the checkout you were incorrectly charged £79?

Or - as other posters have mentioned - was the hard drive £79 when you bought it and was subsequently reduced to £49 in the days after your purchase?

Either way the marked up price is only an invitation to treat not a contract, secondly you have waited a month before checking a receipt to see that you were over charged, when in fact you could have easily picked up a different HDD to the one marked at £49.

Sorry but to me something smells fishy, the timescale is too long also an extra £30 at the checkout most people would notice and would have checked the receipt straight away.

  • If the hard drive was advertised at £49 and you were charged £79 at the checkout then I don't see the problem - take the product and till receipt back to the customer services desk and explain the problem on Monday. If the situation is as you described then they'll refund you the difference.

Although if you pick up a £49 hard drive, take it to the till and the checkout operator says "that'll be £79 please" then I hope I would notice a problem immediately.
  • on the day i purchased it was 49£ only, i saw with my eyes and asked my friend he also said that's good price, then only i bought, but did not check the bill.

Yesterday i was searching some other bills just noticed this one. Really shocked by this. If it was 79£ i would not have bought this one.

The truth here when you see any offer always make sure when you pay it is the same what you have seen on the price.

I hope Tesco would apologies their mistake and pay the money back.
