What age did you baby start walking?

Why worry, have you ever seen a healthy adult who can't walk? (after pub closing time doesn't count;))0

My DD started walking at around 8-9 months, never crawled. Then discovered it was much easier for her to get about crawling. Finally got away at around 11 months.
DS was a bit lazier, at around 15 months he could do what ure wee one is doing, but he had no reason to walk as he had his big sis running behind him getting him what he needed.
It was the same with talking, you could see him practicing the words in his head before he would actually say them.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
DS rolled at 3 months, crawled at 5 ish months, cruised at 10 months, walked at 13 monthsErmutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Eldest was 9 months, youngest 11 months; both girls. And both slightly late!
Eldest crawled at around 5 months; she was incredibly speedy at six months. She was cruising at 3/4 months and walking aided at six months. I wasn't sure whether she'd bother with crawling and thought she might go straight to walking. When she did walk though, she seemed to have a plaster on one knee or the other for about a month!
The older walker, at 11 months, was significantly steadier on her feet. She was a much heavier baby, but has always been strong. Interestingly she is the active, sporty child now; the oldest a TV bookworm!
They all develop differently.0 -
My son didn't walk until about 18 months, but my daughter has just taken her first unsteady steps at nearly 13 months. She can stand still for about 30 seconds without falling, and can take about 3 steps on her own so far...0

Hi Marie
Was your DD on time with her sitting, etc? Sounds she's getting about fine.
Just to mention that my DS was 23 months(!) when he took his first unaided steps, but also that he wouldn't/couldn't do it until I got him some proper shoes. He needed them for stability and it turns out he does have Hypermobility.0 -
My eldest DD walked at 15 1/2 months, but reached all other milestones like crawling/cruising etc at the 'right' times, it just took her a bit longer to get the confidence and balance to let go of the furniture. She talked quite early and her speech/vocabulary is quite advanced (she's now 3).
Her younger sister was walking confidently at 10 months (that was a bit of a shock lol) but now at 20 months still doesn't string words together and isn't very clear in what she does say. She can run, climb and balance almost as well as her sister though!
My friend's little one has only just started walking, at 17 months, and has never crawled or made any effort to be mobile before. They are all different, and it's hard not to get caught up in playing Baby Olympics with everyone comparing whose child did what first :rotfl:0 -
1st - 9 months (but she never crawled)
2nd - 13months I think
3rd - 16months (found it faster to go on all fours)0 -
My son was a late walker and walked at 16 and a half month and then just started running, jumping kicking balls etc straightaway. He used to love sitting and was very good with his hands-eg feeding himself from a very early age. My daughter has just turned 1 and is starting to walk and I'm in shock because I think i had it quite easy with my son! I'm worn out!HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18
