What age did you baby start walking?

Hi.

My DD is nearly 15 months old and not walking yet. I'm not too concerned but was just wondering if anyone has experience of late walkers? My son walked at 14 months but my daughter is not really showing any signs at 15 months. She pulls herself up to cruise around the furniture and will walk if you hold one hand but when we let go she just sinks to the floor! She will also walk with a toddle truck.

Any advice will be gratefully received!

I wouldn't worry too much. My youngest starting walking at 14 months, he showed no interest and then just decided to take a couple of steps on xmas day and hasn't stopped since (he's now 3). My eldest was quicker, I think he walked at 12mths but a lot of people have said to me that 2nd and any subsequent children can be slower at walking, talking etc as they have an older sibling to do everything for them and don't have to do so much themselves.
Especially true in my case, there are 8years between my 2 boys.

Don't worry, children all do things at different stages. As long as she's fit and healthy thats all that matters.
    Hope that helps.

My 3 'babies' all started walking unaided at different ages. My DD was almost 17 months old, DS1 was 15months and DS2 was 12 months old.

Was told my DD may have been a 'late developer' due to being 4 weeks prem, but all her other achievement stages were reached within range.

DD 9 months and DS 10 months, lots of friends had children that walked later, one had a DD that walked earlier than my DD! If your DD is cruising and walking with a toddle truck then it may just be convidence and balance , she is probably nearly there. How long has she been cruising?

The older sibling thing can work both ways. With my DD, she was always wanting to do what her brother and his friends could do so was quicker, but I am a second child and apparently had my own language until I was 3, but my older brother translated, so I got more attention! (always been an attention seeker!)
  • My dd was nearly 14 months. The thing that got her going was an afternoon walking round ikea with one of the child trolleys. She held on and pushed it along (while I held the bar that sticks up to steady her), she loved it so much she was walking from then on! HTH x

I don't have children myself but tll you this story to reassure you.

I didn't start walking until I was 23 months old. As you can imagine my parents were getting very worried but one day I just started walking and that was it. So try not to worry and there is still penty of time.

My earliest was 9 months and the latest was 14 months.

I really wouldn't worry about it. She is cruising, so is on her way there!

I was just under 12 months (actually the week before I was one) before I started walking.
