Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 24th January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS lovelies wave.gif
Lowesy - Still thinking of you and your husband at this painful time.
Cranky - How are you and the house elf doing?
SunnyGirl - kiss.gif Glad you had a good day with your sister-in-law
Essex - Hope your son is doing better
Czarina - Good luck with the packing today! Don't do too much and wear yourself out!
Marie - Hope you finally finished the curtains, sounds like it has been a long job.
Bargain - glad you caught up on some sleep hon, you must have needed it!
Jaynnie - well done on your first SC meal! It sounds delicious. I love my SC and my BM.
Nic1 - hugs.gif
LadyGrim - I hope your husband is getting better hon.
Heavenleigh - How are you hon? Missing your pink type!
Hope everyone at the meet in London had a fabulous time and that Aussie had a good birthday.
News from America is that Michelle has regained consciousness so they are hopeful that they will now be able to operate which is fab.. Tris is also doing better and managed to eat something today so good news all round. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts for them both.
.. they moved the smilies two days ago and took off a couple, and added the smile. Having posted in the Arms I am glad to see the back of the rolling eyes one personally.. giggle.gif, though I think the confused one was useful.
MSD, not sure what you mean about the removal of a couple of smillies having anything to do with posting in the Arms, this was removed due to over use across all boards and not specifically anything to do with the Arms as I would have thought you would be aware due to posting on the reality show threads there.
EL - I think you have mis-read or mis-understood me, sorry. All I was trying to communicate was that I have seen the rolling eyes smiley used a lot in the 'Arms' on the aforementioned reality threads and I will not miss it! (as that is the only other place I post, I could only comment on its use there). I have not noticed it as much on this board I suppose.:) I really did not mean it to read as me saying or implying that they were removed because of the 'Arms', as that would patently not be the case.
Ok, so I think we will end up having a full roast today but with the thick pork steaks we bought the other day and broccoli, sprouts and carrots. I decided that my OH works so hard that he deserves a roast if he wants one. I have some darning to do also which I always oddly enjoy. Have a lovely Sunday. With love, light and HShuggies.giffor all.

    Morning peeps

still dark here and i`ve not been out so the weather will be a surprise later, i`m hoping for a dry day like yesterday, there was even a bit of sunshine in the morning which lifted my mood lots.

I posted yesterday morning and then the whole lot vanished :( i didn`t have time to re-do it all as i had to go out so i just left it, can`t remember much from the day before though :o

Hope that everyone had a great time at the meet, can`t wait to see the pics :D

Aussie - Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday HSthbdayparty-1.gif

Nic Lou - sorry to hear about your DD ((((HUGS))))

JC - I have two slowcookers too :o they are a lifesaver.

Diva - Great news re Michelle

Well after arriving home from the shopping trip yesterday i spent the rest of the afternoon in the kitchen, i made a huge spag bol which we had for tea last night and two batches of chilli con carne for the freezer. I also made an enormous cottage pie and i think that we will probably have some of that for our main meal today. DH and i have the day off together for a change so he can help me strip the bed and do a couple of jobs where its easier if two people are doing them instead of one IYKWIM.

Fingers crossed i have sorted the kitchen out :j i`m trying not to count my chickens but we have replaced the discontinued cabinets with different ones in a different colour and managed to get matching end panels, soooooooooooooooo all being well it should be ok. Downside is i can`thave them until the end of March so the saga drags on. I keep telling myself that i`ll appreciate it all the more once its finished :rotfl:
Its really the only way that i can stop myself going mad lol.

Well i`m sat sitting with my cuppa and the wm and dw are both on and hopefully will be finished soon, the bm has just beeped so i need to go empty that and the smaller slowcooker is bubbling away too. I have hm dogfood in that one so i need to find some of my small tupperware pots out to freeze it in later.

Hmm just noticed that the HS sites smilies don`t want to copy and paste into my post *insert confused smilie* maybe it will appear once the post is finished - or maybe not :D i`ll soon find out.

Welcome Jaynnie :hello: sounds like you`re loving you slowcooker too :D

Right i must make a move or else i`ll be on here all day :D

    Have a good one peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning everyone.
Kids up, H still in bed. He bore the brunt of DS waking last night. I never heard him again  This is MOST unlike me as it's normally the other way round. Have told H to wake me in future but H won't have any of it. DD woke up last night before we went to bed so we brought her down. Boy oh boy was she in a right strop. Stomping round the lounge smacking her hand on the furniture :rotfl:I wish I'd got the video camera handy as it was so funny. A right little madam this one ;) No idea what was the matter with her......

Got a chicken in the oven at the mo. If I am going to do any baking then I will need to get to the supermarket and pick up some marg/butter. Might take DS for a ride on his bike sometime as he's getting into that. Have a mountain of ironing to do tonight (sometimes I love Sundays and other times I loathe them ;)) So a bit of a pottering around the house day today, not very exciting but probably be chaos with us all at home!

Diva - glad to hear of improvements with Tris and Michelle.

Sunnyday - Bit of shame you have to wait til March for your kitchen cupboards but like you say you'll appreciate them all the more.

lowesy - hope you are you H are doing OK xx

csarina - Good luck with packing today.

Have a good Sunday everyone OS or not.

He was up late last night as was excited to see OHs new car/van, but still up early again:p
Was very busy yesterday juggle.gifso not doing so much today.....one of the meatloaves made yesterday will do for tea, just need to make some spicy tomato sauce and mash an veg, no doubt DS will have sausages:o
Going to hopefully get DS out for a run in the park....will take hot choc in a flask and some mini marshmallows for it.

    Morning All

MSD - so glad you have good news about Michelle & Tris, hope they continue to improve. DS' arm is much better thank you.

NPM - loving your sons youtube viewing :rotfl:

Sounds like the meet yesterday went very well, I too can't wait for the photos.

Had a nice afternoon yesterday, ignored the ironing and the housework and instead sat in front of the fire watching Little Women, its been a hetic week and that helped recharge my batteries.

Have Gammon in the slow cooker and just about to jump in the shower, have got to go to Dartford to download a digital tachograph which will take some time but will get OH to treat me to a Starbucks after. This afternoon will be ironing and getting stuff ready for school tomorrow. Probably will have to spend sometime chasing DS to get his homework done, he hasn't had any for a few weeks.

I definately must menu plan and do an online shop to hopefully be delivered tomorrow. Received a family planner that I purchased from Organisd Mum in their sale which has menu planner & shopping list pages in there so will use that which will hopefully make that job a little nicer.

Best get my bum into gear, have a lovely Sunday & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x

    Morning all,

Off to work today for a bit so just a quick coffee and a catch up -
Diva - good news re trist and michelle keeping up with the prayers and posisitive thoughts.

Thanks yes I was pretty pleasesd with myself regards the results of the slow cooker who would of thought a few lentils could make such a diff we both had 2 bowls each of stew and HO has taken some to work plus I have 3 marg tubs full for the frezzer.

Carnt wait to get back from work to try BM though most people seam to say "Bm beeped" when they post first thing in the morning is this bececause they get up really early or can the thing work overnight.

Anyway finally finished the sneaky ways to save the pennies thread so its onward and upward to the Flylady.

Hugs to all who need them or just fancy one - hope you all have a lovely Sunday whatever your plans

    see you all later

NPM - just savour the experience of those cheese scones - will they be worth the wait?! :rotfl:

Jaynnie - Some BM's have a timer function so you can prep the pan and ingredients at bedtime and it will switch on at night allowing you to have ready made bread in the morning.

    Morning All

Mince is braising in the slowcooker and kitchen has been S & S'd, Living room needs straightening up and I'll do that next.

Only me and DD up (step kids are at their mum's this weekend) she woke at six but is watching cbeebies so is mostly quiet although she is hurrying me up as she wants to play on the games on the cbeebies website!

I have a little washing to do today but nothing drastic and I do fancy doing some baking as we have no biscuits or cake in. I have some rather sad looking lemons in the fridge and a recipe for lemon meringue muffins or maybe this lemon drizzle cake I see mentioned on here often.

Having said all that it is quite possible that I do nothing today! I certainly don't intend going out and I haven't had a day of relaxation since christmas and I was ill so it didn't count!

    Have a good day

    Morning all

Dark but appears not to be raining but everywhere still very wet underfoot. Was a very busy bee yesterday, managed to get in the kitchen for the morning and made 2 dozen biscuits, 2 dozen cup cakes, Bakewell Tart, jam tarts, and a Fruit Tealoaf. Should keep the wolf from the door. I'd forgotten how much I like cooking and baking and that lovely feeling afterwards of achievement when it's all cooling on racks and you look at it and think "I made all that myself"! Is that just me that does that or me being soft? Have a chicken to roast for today's main meal, think we will have it later as we have several jobs we want to get done and DS1 and DS2 may go to rugby practice this morning and that makes getting lunch at lunchtime a bit tight for time IYKWIM. Just need to iron small amount of clothes which are last part of uniforms for tomorrow and then going to have an easy day.

Went to both sets of parents yesterday too as it's MIL's birthday at the end of this week, so took her prezzie and card, got a bit of a strange look from her as her prezzie was a bit of odd shape and difficult to wrap so put it in an Ann Summers gift bag and put lots of ribbon and bows on it, think she wondered what I'd bought her, did tell her not to get too excited as it wasn't anything from Ann Summers!!! Not much else to report.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
