Well I made my first plate corn-beef pie today and I am delighted it looks fantastic, if I knew how to add a photo I would. I made the pastry using the food processor for the first time so as a single 62 year old man who a few years ago couldn't boil an egg, I have now added another string to my bow. I can now make bread using my breadmaker, pizza again making the dough with the breadmaker, I would like to thank everyone in this forum for the help if not directly, via your posts. I am really starting to enjoy cooking my x-wife would have 1 heck of a shock LolLow Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

This is such a wonderful post - it's great to see people learning to cook who never thought they couldGood luck in your baking endeavours in future - your pie looks fantastic! x
You've had more luck than me today - I started to make millionaire shortbread using evaporated milk instead of condensed and then realised that wasn't right. So I made it using condensed but the recipe is a bit odd as it seems to have ended up with the caramel being twice the thickness of the shortbread! Ah well - it's lovely, if a bit sicklyI then used the evaporated milk mix to make flapjacks so hope they turn out ok.

Apple, pear and raspberry crumble last night (using fruit that is looking a bit tired) and today bread rolls and shortbread.. all cooling waiting to be gobbled up."People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0

So far today I have make chocolate iced toffee cupcakes from the Eat Me book, which are very very yummy. (I tried to be moneysaving by getting the book from the library, but now it looks like I will have to buy it).
Later I will be making Hubby's traditional birthday cake, a Celebration Lemon Roulade from Delia Smith's recipe. It has lots of steps and ingredients, but it is a very good cake.0 -
So far I've got rosemary focaccia rising and almost ready to bake, rhubarb crumble prepped and in the fridge ready to put in after dinner which is a chicken and leek pie0

Just made a batch of fruit scones using some dried fruit I found lurking at the back of the cupboard. Haven't made scones of any description for years but I'm sitting here now eating one spread with butter and gooseberry jam and its yummy!0
