Not a clue. I never make jelly, although have used the gelatine free granules in recipes on the odd occasion. Perhaps the gelatine jelly is a bit firmer? No idea, as I'm vegetarian and wouldn't use it. Actually had trouble getting the granules in the UK for a beetroot recipe, but ended up with some WeightWatcher sachets. Wasn't too enamoured at the time, so won't be bothering again.
Here's a recipe I found for Jaffa cake cupcakes, which uses actually Jaffa cakes and marmalade. Looks a bit too sickly for my taste, so won't be making them!

I saw some veggie gel crystals in a health food store today, different brand (but very bad memory for names, sorry). Might be worth checking out.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

Yum - have just made a Bakewell Tart, something I haven't made for years, and we've just had some for pudding.
DH had his with ice cream but I had mine au naturel0 -

I use vege gel from Dr. Oetker if I'm making veggie versions of Jaffa cake cupcakes:
- Line a tin or shallow tray with cling film, depending on how thick you want the jelly to set and how much time you have! Muffin tins and mini muffin tins work well for this, as well as minimal wastage.
- I squeeze the juice of 3-4 oranges so I get about 150ml (doesn't matter if it's a bit over, but if it's under reduce the amount of vege gel).
- Put in a saucepan, along with a tablespoon of caster sugar and slowly heat until it almost reaches boiling point.
- At this stage, remove from heat and stir in a sachet of vege gel until combined.
- Pour into chosen tin and immediately put it in the fridge for at least 3 hours to set (I make mine the day before to be sure)
- Once set use a cookie cutter to determine size!
Hope that helps!
N.B. One sachet of this stuff is about the equivalent of 4 gelatine sheets'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'0 -
I've just made a batch of blueberry muffins, banana loaf and a lemon drizzle all cooling on the side then to be sliced and off to the freezer so no snaffling these just yet0

The chocoholic in me is purringInteresting pointless fact, for some reason Morrison's own version of Jaffa Cakes are vegan friendly. Just in case you wanted to know :rotfl:
