  • This morning I have made an apple and sultana crumble for tonight. As the oven was on, I also baked a lemon victoria sandwich and filled it with lemon curd. It's been sliced up and put in the freezer for another day - except for one small portion for me (quality control :rotfl: )

Today i made Mars Bar cake again but with a different recipe, it worked perfectly, so the other recipe was missing golden syrup and that must have been why it was very crumbly :)

  • Blueberry and lemon drizzle cake ~ I've previously done this with mixed berries and lime, and also a lime/lemon combo.

I baked a Porter Cake today. It has Guinness in it,and the raising agent is bicarb.
It hasn't risen much.Apparently it's best to leave it a few days before eating, but I might have to try it before then. ;)

Hi guys, I wondered if anyone could possibly help me out with an old style recipe- I haven't got a lot to go on!! lol My Nan when she was alive ( born circa 1915) used to bake these "things" that were like a cross breed between a sultana bun and a sultana rock cake, they used to taste really buttery and indulgent and me and my dad (now 70) were discussing these the other day- no one ever knew what they were called, but on going on a day trip with a friend of mine a few years back who had an elderly Nanna at the time I found that she baked the same things and had packed us some up for lunch that tasted just the same, so it can't have been just my Nan! Unfortunately my friends Nanna has passed too, does anyone have any clues as to what they might be?? Or possibly a recipe at all?

Been buying some 'fish finger biscuits' for the dog but they were out of stock today so I looked at the ingredients on the packet and had a go at making them. Her royal dogness still has to sample and approve (or not) :D

The closest I can think of is Bread pudding ~ my nan used to make this with sultanas and was a bit like how you described? Rarely see it in any shops now but do love it every now and again...maybe worth a google to see if that resembles it?

    Sorry cannot help more!
