hmm...getting back into baking today.... the day i start my diet lol! have made 2 loaves of bread, used a different recipe and its the best bread ive made yet! usually it comes out very heavy but this is nice! it was handmade, well dough hooks and oven lol and i have dug the breadmaker out and have another loaf in their with a different recipe. Really cant get my bread to turn out nice in it :-/

For tea it was HM lentil soup with the HM bread and DH wanted sponge and custard so i whipped up 12 cupcakes as can give kids them for lunches tomorrow.

I too have decided to make more bread.

Would love the tomato and herb recipe, i have used sainsburys packet mix before.

I made a cake from a recipe I saw in a newspaper before Christmas. It's roughly flour, eggs, sugar, marg, but you add in a whole jar of mincemeat. I got 3 jars reduced to 10p each.
I tell you what... it is probably the softest, nicest fruit cake I have ever eaten in my life!
If anyone has a leftover jar of mincemeat, and would like the recipe, I will gladly post it.

This sounds like my kind of thread

I have been baking loads recently and after two weeks of trial and error have found a way of making my own bread which is soft enough for sandwiches rather than very dense.

I have also got a basic muffin recipe which is blissfully easy and you can add any ingredients you like to it.

Yesterday I made a yoghurt cake and it was divine, and very easy, fluffier than victoria sponge type cakes I thought.

I will post recipes if anyone is interested.

One thing though, I am finding the butter and caster sugar quite expensive, I made my own butter but it still worked out pricey. Does anyone have any advice on getting the costs down? TIA
