Been baking a bit more as the weather gets colder. Used up a box mix that had been sitting at the back of the cupboard for Black Forest gateau - yum! Then this week I made this apple cake using some apple puree that had been in the freezer since the last time I had an apple glut. Next project, I think, will be German lebkuchen - it is getting close to Christmas, after all!

Does a microwave syrup sponge count as baking? it was delish and only took 31/2 min to cook.

    In case anyone is interested-
Crean 100g of butter with 100g sugar.
Slowly add 2 beaten eggs a few drops of vanilla extract.
Add 100g self raising flour, 30mls milk and grated zest of 1 Lemon (optional)
Put 3 tablespoons of syrup into a 2 pint bowl andput the batter mix onto. Put a plate on top of the bowl and microwave for 31/2 minutes.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.
