Firstly I am sorry if this is posted on the wrong page but I can't find a recipe page.
Does anyone know how to or has made a 'simple' Stilton and Peppercorn sauce for mushrooms. I ordered this dish at a pub the other evening and it was lovely.
Thought I would give it a go.0 -

A quick question
I'm a non-drinker and normally don't use wine in my cooking, if I am I buy small bottles of wine.
A few nights back I had a few friends over and on cleaning up I discovered an almost full bottle of wine. So the question how long can I keep it in the fridge and use it for cooking.
Any hints on keeping wine for cooking would also be appreciated

You could always freeze it in ice cube trays, and then you won't need to worry about using it quickly, as it won't keep very long.0 -

So far today, my baking consists of bread in the breadmaker but, tonight, I'll be making another batch of jam crumblies, since my DH devoured the first batch I'd ever made (made on Sunday - gone on Monday). I do them at 180C for 20-25 minutes."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

Is the bottle a screw top and was the lid on? If so, then it'll keep virtually forever. (Theoretically, anyway. In my house, probably between 3 days and 3 months.) I've also had very good success using the Vacuvin system to reseal wine bottles. A properly vac'd bottle will remain sealed for months.
Once wine is open and exposed to the elements, it rapidly oxidizes to vinegar, so if the bottle was open when you found it, give it a good sniff before storing. If it reeks of vinegar, use it as drain cleaner."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
