Made a fruit cake, its DH favourite, reminds him of his grandad who made one every week. Only problem was I am not used to gas oven yet, put it on high when I lit it and forgot to turn it down. We now have rather well done top to cake, it just needs a bit of a trim!!!Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

Sounds familiar, I used to be guilty of turning the oven up high to speed things up and forgetting. It's amazing what you can disguise though with a trim and a covering of lemon frosting:D0 -

Just come back from LIDL with chocolate & about to do 2 batches of the Lurpak brownies - from the recipe that came with the tins.
I got some white chocolate to drizzle over one lot & some cherries to put into the other.
***forgot to put in the cherries***0 -
Fruit cake in the oven, pastry case for quiche, upside down apple tart waiting to go in (using up pastry trimmings), chilli con carne on stove and baking potatoes for stuffed baked potatoes in the spare oven space........busy, busy weekend moving furniture round the country so figure we can eat the quiche and fruit ccake to keep energy levels up and reheat chilli when we got home as I am pretty certain I won't have the energy to cook!'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0
