I've made some more cookies using the same recipe as last week, however, I tried to do half chocolate chip and half double chocolate and I have no idea what's happened to the quantities as the 'normal' mix was really runny. I added more flour to it in hopes of it working, but looking in the oven it could be a waste of ingredients as the double chocolate ones seem to have spread into one giant cookie and the normal ones have puffed up like cakes :( I'll stick to the recipe next time!

  • I've just baked a cherry cake and my first ever batch of Twinks Hobnobs which are absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be doing them again. This week I also made some Millie's Cookies so thank you to whoever posted that recipe - they were exactly like Millie's Cookies. Tomorrow I intend to do something chocolatey for dessert after our Sunday dinner.

Mary Berry's Ultimate Cakes book has some lovely traybakes and her recipes always turn out great.

I had a terrible bout of homesickness today and had to make some wheaten bread to make myself feel better. (Depending where you're from you might call it brown soda bread.) It was lovely but kind of made me feel a bit worse! Never mind, I'll be visiting home in a few weeks.

Also made some oatmeal biscuits and some white chocolate and macadamia nut cookies since I had the oven heated anyway.

DH has requested a madeira cake tomorrow.
  • Does Fish Pie count?

I got a short dated pack of 4 Ross Fish Fillets in Butter Sauce for 50p from Heron Frozen Foods and used them broken up as the base and split the butter sauce in half - used one half with the fish base and used the other half mixed into the hefty topping of mash (from bag Aldi Potatoes 2.5kg for 49p, plus a bit of milk and a knob of margarine) and lightly sprinkling with grated cheese (from a £2 for 400g special offer piece)...total pie cost approx £1-£1.20 max - very tasty and all three of us are very, very full. :)

Today we bought a teddy bear cake mould in a charity shop (brand new) and then decided to cook a plain sponge in it with daughter. Very good and a novel idea for 50p cake mould.
