Baked my first soda farl on tuesday evening (sorry a couple of days late posting here). Turned out OK. Used some lemon juice in milk rather than butter milk and it seemed to be fine. Could have done with a little more biscarbonate of soda. Very easy to make in a frying pan, using flour instead of oil.

    I have just made this....

    It is rather delish :D

I have to admit I was a little bit sceptical at first as it uses no flour or fat, but I can most definitely say that this is the BEST cake I have ever made.... so soft, so delicious and the homemade chocolate mousse was divine (even though I used smartprice chocolate), better still the eggs are from our lovely chooks in the garden, yummy!

  • It was tree decorating day today :D so I decided we'd need some mince pies to set the scene. I made a new recipe though, topped with frangipane rather than pastry. They [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] were (:o) gorgeous. I'll be making lots of these for the family Christmas party. ;)

I have a question for you lovely people.

I want to make a chocolate and a lemon tart for dessert on Christmas day, can I make them in advance and freeze them. I have never frozen tarts before, will they be as good as if made fresh??

    Thanks in advance

  • Two dozen frangipane mince pies, most of which have been popped into tins and are now on their way down the M1 with DH who is doing the Christmas present trip south. :xmassign:
