Hello everyone, I was wondering if you could help me... I wasn't sure where to put this so move this if I'm in the wrong place. I'm about to attempt a victoria sponge and the recipe says you need two cake tins, well I only have one. Would it be possible to use half of the cake mix, bake it then whip the cake out and put the other half of the cake mix in? I can't afford to go out and buy another cake tin and I don't have anything that's a similar size.

Yeah once you baked one cake you could repeats the whole process and then cook the second batch while the other was cooling.

I also had this problem but my tin was big enough to chuck the whole mix in the one tin and then once the cake cooled i simply cut it in the middle to half it.

They're talking about two sandwich tins. A normal deep cake tin is fine for the whole mixture, and you can then slice it in half with a sharp knife.

I think I'm going to have to go and make one now :rotfl:

I had eggs to use up so I made 12 chocolate fairy cakes, 24 plain fairy cakes with purple icing and a loaf of banana bread on Saturday - gave 14 buns and the banana bread to school fair on Sunday but family is steadily munching through the rest! (I boiled the last 2 eggs and DH made an egg sambo with them for brekkie yesterday!).

    Hi!
    Cakes - yum!
But what's an egg sambo please? :D

Don't! Nobody will think you are silly for asking questions. Life is a long learning curve. :)

And now I feel like making a lemon drizzle cake too! :rotfl:
