    I've been Money Tipped!
I had 1 pear to use and a few raspberries in the freezer so I've turned it into a pear and raspberry crumble type affair for OH and I after our dinner. Going to serve it with the last bit of yogurt that needs using up!

Trying to live a good life on little money :T

Just made 8 chocolate cupcakes and 7 lemon buttercream cupcakes for DS to take to school tomorrow. We are having a bunfight after the Easter Service. I bought some cupcake cases and little flags from Home Bargains for 99p they look very jolly :) DS is chief taster and they have passed his exacting 5 year old standards :)

I have a massive bag of Alpen that I bought thinking it was a low fat breakfast cereal! (have 2 stone of baby weight to loose) should have really checked the calories first!. So now looking for things to do with it to feed my hubby and kids as they wont eat it for breakfast.

Inspired by the wheatabix cake recipe on here I made a loaf cake with a cup full of alpen, caster sugar, milk and I chopped up a wrinkly looking apple into small chunks. Let it soak for a bit then added a cup of sr flour.

result was a very filling fruity loaf cake, probably better with a slather of butter on it! But it seems to be a success :T

Am going to use it to make cereal bars and maybe some fruity hobnob type biccys next week I think!

Mrstim, Alpen makes good crumble topping too when mixed with the usual ingredients.

I have made a chocolate cake for my daughters birthday (3 tiers and lots of pink icing!) I have a carrier bag of rhubarb which I need to decide what to do with now.

I tried to bake Anzac biscuits today but they didnt work. At first the mix was too dry and wouldnt bind together and after i added more liquids it was.... well nasty.

Ive never tried to bake sweet things before, dont think i will try again.

My hot cross buns yesterday using Delia recipe were absolutely gorgeous.

However, I tried to make chocolate bourbon biscuits (from Kate Shirazi's book Cookie Magic) and the dough was awful. It was crumbly and wouldn't stick together so I moistened it with some water and it still wasn't great. The biscuits came out very hard (perhaps I over cooked them) and although the flavour is lovely I was just a bit disappointed after all the effort. Any ideas of a better recipe?

    Delia's All-in-one sponge http://www.deliaonline.com/how-to-cook/baking/how-to-make-all-in-one-sponge.html

I made the chocolate version (don't use vanilla extract, but add a tablespoon of cocoa powder to the mixture). I also doubled the quantities, and made two sponges.

Not that you would know it now... :p
