I made a milk loaf in my breadmaker.

Haven't used it for months except for pizza dough as we were never keen on the texture or taste.

Anyway, made a small milk loaf and used my new Cookworks food slicer from Argso to cut it.

I was amazed what a difference the cut of the bread makes.

My daughter had sandwiches as did I and I toasted some.

If anyone has ever had Blackpool Milk Loaf toasted it was a bit like that.

I will def be making more of that one.

I never have time for baking but today me and the little one made fruit scones for his lunchboxes... :D He is very proud of himself.

Ive had a bit of a rake round the site for some other goodies which I could make for him, but would welcome any quick and easy suggestions you all may have? I am no Delia Smith for sure so any guidance you could give me would be much appreciated? :D

    Thank you xx

ohh, could i have the recipie for the coffee and dark choc muffins please, they sound perfect for o/h b day next week!

    Coffee and Choc Chip Muffins

    285g/10oz plain flour
    15g/1/2 oz instant coffee powder
    1 tbsp baking powder
    170g/6oz light muscovado sugar
    2 eggs
    100g/3 1/2 oz milk
    190g/6 1/2 oz double cream
    100g/3 1/2 oz butter
    150g plain chocolate roughly chopped.

I didn't have light muscovado so used dark, didn't have double cream so used single and used a packet of chocolate chips. Sometimes when I have had no cream I have just used milk.

    Preheat oven to 180/350/gas 4.

Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl, pushing coffee and sugar through the sieve. Add chocolate chips and stir to mix together.

Mix eggs, milk and cream. Don't beat to thicken the cream.

Melt butter in microwave or pan.

Add all wet ingredients to dry ingredients and fold together until combined.

Spoon into muffin cases, makes 12. Sprinkle with a little demerera sugar before baking if you like.

Bake 23 - 25 minutes until well risen.

I love making muffins, they are so easy. Maximum reward for minimum effort.

It's great fun cooking with children. I usually do fairy cakes and biscuits with my grandchildren, they love icing them and putting as many sprinkles on as possible.

There are a lot of recipes in the indexed collections at the top of the page. Flapjacks or Anzac biscuits are really easy, muffins too.

I also use the bbc and good food magazine websites for ideas.

I am going to make another milk loaf but bake it in the oven instead of the bread maker. I haven't baked one in the oven before so I'm a bit apprehensive.

The thing is, my recipe is from a bread maker book so I don't know how long to bake it for and at what temperature.

It is a small size white milk loaf, can anyone give me an idea how to bake it please?

    Ta.

Today I am baking a pineapple upside down cake - except i'm using fresh pineapple that needs using so hope it's an ok substitute! And a lemon crunch cake for work tomorrow. Also making a HM tomato soup with some very dodgy looking tomatoes.
Yesterday me and two of the kids baked Anzac Biscuits except they're nearly all gone!!

    YUMMY!!!!

Muffins at 6:30 am this morning before I set of for work! (Had a lovely hot muffin with my coffee before setting for road).

I made them with 3 oats so simple sachets this time, as decided it is time to 'reduce the reserves', added some sultanas, cranberries and coconut. Oh, and 1 frozen cherry in each.
