I bought a new cookery book in Aldis yesterday (couldnt resist it), '1001 cupcakes, cookies and other tempting treats'. I had all the ingredients except cream for the 'sticky toffee squares' so made them this morning. used milk instead of cream for the toffee sauce (recipe said milk was ok to use)................theres none left! absolutely, bloody gorgeous! took the tin full up mums for family gathering and the comments were 'OMG just like sticky toffee pudding (upon which sis announced she was taking some home to serve with custard for the kids tea), to muffled 'mmmmmm's, and 6 year old granddaughter 'nan, can you show me how to make these?' to 'YOU made these'? from my mum, who knows I dont like sweet things, lol. I just like baking them! I dont actually eat them. I managed to keep two slices for my OH who was downright effusive in his praise 'these are nice, can I take the other one for S**** for our coffee break tomorow'?
Loads of lovely recipes in the book and I am looking forward to trying some muffins next!
oh and when the sticky toffee squares came out I baked a chicken which is waiting in fridge for me to do some chips for supper!
Oooh they do sound good - is there any chance you could PM me the recipe please??Emma

It's my DH's birthday today, so I've made an orange cake (his favourite). Unfortunately it's not come out properly - it's sunk in the middle. It's a recipe I've used so many times before I could make it when I'm asleep, so I don't know what's gone wrong. I'll just use lots of buttercream and hope it hides it.0

Not technically today...over the weekend.
Mince pies and sausage rolls, not many left though, so need to make some more and freeze them so I don't eat any more before Christmas.

I made some chicken in a sauce to fill in large pitta breads - we didnt have any wraps. I had chicken strips in a chilli sauce and I added onion, mushrooms tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce Tabsco and another chilli and some frozen peppers. Once cooked added some low fat creme fraiche. It was really yummy and more importantly quick - would do it again.0

made girly cakes with three yr old grandson (fairy cakes with pink icing and glace cherry on top). the little one came in and asked if we could make cakes for mummy.......he wanted little ones not the big 'daddy cake'! lol a quick look through recipe book and he selected ones with white icing and cherry ..........but they werent 'mummy' cakes so we decided to make the icing pink! and darn me they look very pretty! unfortunately he took them home and i didnt think of taking a pic while he was there!
