Katholikos - everything looks fantastic, I bet your house smelled fantastic after that lot came out of the oven! I love the chocolate log, I think I'm going to do one this year instead of a Christmas cake as I can't get DH to eat dried fruit
Today I am going to college and we're supposed to be making sweeties for Christmas (only we're supposed to call them petit fours!) including coconut ice, Turkish delight, truffles, nougat and I forget what else but no doubt it will all involve sugar thermometers and burnt fingers. Can't wait
Thanks angeltreatsI think a chocolate log is a great alternative to Christmas cake!

Hi everyone
Hope you are all well and warm in this weather.
Today I baked twinks hobnobs OMG I know they will not last long in my house, they are lovely
Also made whoopies asparagus soup, and whoopies chicken pulled apart and made chicken tikka masala for tea tonight out of one portion, the other in the fridge for tea tomorrow.I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

At last I got around to doing the bread baking for the week (first time in ages), now that I shall not be working anymore I am planning to do this on a regular basis. Today 1 1/2 kg strong white and 1 1/2 kg wholemeal (plus a couple handfuls mixed seeds) made: 3 large loaves, 4 smaller seeded loaves and 12 seeded rolls. Here is the link to today's baking pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zazapics/5224608184/Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

I made the boiled fruit cake (recipe posted earlier) with my 3 year old grandson. lots of fun! apparently, the cake is for 'daddy'!!! mum cant have any, nanny cant have any, and neither can grandad! only daddy and him!
then I taught OH how to make his favourite casserole (bit greived over that, as its so easy and he thought it must be complicated) beef in beer! It smells lovely and we are having it with chips and peas later.0
