Katholicos your baking looks delicious:)
I've just posted this on another thread, but thought I'd ask here as well.
'I have a question for all the bakers' here and wondered if anybody can help.
Does anybody know where I can find a tinplate bun-tin? These are the old fashioned plain tin without any non-stick on them. I have tinplate baking trays, bread tins and cake tins, but I can't seem to find any bun-tins, even though I've been looking for some time.
If anybody has seen them and can let me know, I'd be very grateful'0 -
Lily-Lu - try the pound shops, Wilkinson etc. I looked everywhere for a tinplate baking tray recently and looked in Lakeland and all the usual suspects, but finally found it in Wilkinson. They obviously wouldn't be very good quality though.
I've had mine for a few years, I think they might have come from Sainsburys but I just looked on the website and they don't have any on there now
Katholikos - everything looks fantastic, I bet your house smelled fantastic after that lot came out of the oven! I love the chocolate log, I think I'm going to do one this year instead of a Christmas cake as I can't get DH to eat dried fruit
Today I am going to college and we're supposed to be making sweeties for Christmas (only we're supposed to call them petit fours!) including coconut ice, Turkish delight, truffles, nougat and I forget what else but no doubt it will all involve sugar thermometers and burnt fingers. Can't wait0 -
I made three Herman cakes last night - two with mixed fruit and a plain one with lemon juice. Also made a gluten-free/dairy free brownie bar cake, and a lovely apple crumble. I still have one portion of Herman left to "grow" again, and then the next time it is ready to cook, I will cook all four portions and put the cakes in the freezer. The OH will be eating one of the fruit cakes, the two DDs the lemon version and the other fruit one is in the freezer. The brownie cake is for ME!December GC: £3500

I've had a few of those baking trays from Wilkinsons, but I've not managed to find any other tinplate bakeware in there. All the rest seem to be non-stick:(
I was in Poundland a few months ago, but they didn't have any tinplate at all then. I'll have another look in there next time, though.0 -
Mince Pies! SO exciting. I bloomin love getting ready for Christmas. :j0

I love the Advent Wreath, and of course the food looks delicious.
Put the oven on for tea so made the most of it and made - homemade oven chips, breaded chicken breast, apple crumble (made by DS age 14) and some buns which will be covered in chocolate later.
Yummy

Thankyou for the compliment :-)
Homemade oven chips are so good. Well done to your DS on making the apple crumble :TGrocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
