Please help!
I have attempted making tablet and it hasn't set properly, it's more like soft fudge consistency, I am wondering if it is because I never beat it long enough after taking it off the heat.

Had a bit of a wobble half way through as the final mix wasn't wet enough. I added more melted butter to bind it - now they are a bit too buttery.
Any suggestions of what I should have added to bind it? Milk, water....?
I wouldn't have added anything but use the heat of your hands to bring it together, as the mixture warms it usually comes together fine. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

It could be that you are taking it off the heat too soon. Getting the right point is a very tricky business. I have bunged it back in the pan before and re boiled to cure this. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

It could be - how are you beating it?? I ask because whenever I used to do it by hand it didnt work. I now use my electric hand mixer and beat for about 10 mins or soDustykitten wrote: »It could be that you are taking it off the heat too soon. Getting the right point is a very tricky business. :rotfl:Me too!! I HATE gritty tablet with a passion and getting it all nice and smooth makes all the difference (in my opinion).FiFi_Mad_Mum wrote: »Haha! I love the technichal term 'bunged it back in the pan', thank you! I will give that a try, I was following the nestle recipe but I know another recipe said to cook longer and I was lazy when it came to beating it after you take it off the heat.

I tend to boil (a proper rolling boil) stirring constantly for about 20-30 mins then take off the heat and mix (with electric hand mixer) for about 10 mins before turning out into tray to set.
