NPM - have an idea of what you are talking about but if you could send the CD roms to me that would be fab - can you store things on a hard drive that are copied from a CD rom? Can you tell I am in no way technically minded :o
Sorry about the cheese scones LOL. DS just LOVES them (as do I truth be told) and since he's gone off eating toast and doesn't always want to eat bread or crackers he keeps asking for these instead. Well I just have to oblige don't I ;) Mind you they don't last very long (as we eat them all) so that's why I always bang on about making them!

Anniestar - welcome back - your H has been posting very nicely in your absence ;)

Nic1 - going to work?!!!!! Norty girl - no way should you even be thinking about that!

(((hugs))) to those in need of one.

I have the day off again today :j I had a bit of a lie in til 9am, and then read in bed for an hour or so. I have a huge list of stuff I need to do today including housework, sorting out car insurance and trying on my outfit for my friends wedding next month - need to check that it all looks ok on! Although, as usual, I am spending far too much time on here, but hey it's my day off I can do what I want :rotfl:

I'm going to do some batch cooking too, which I'll probably do this afternoon whilst watching a cheesy movie.

If the weather holds off - it's threatening rain at moment - then I'll pop out for a walk by the sea later too.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all :)

A very wet day ouside, today. Keeping fingers crossed that it will be dry by tomorrow, as DDs want to go to Stratford with friends. I love it there, and meeting up with my friends whilst the girls go shopping, is bliss :)

I've just been sorting lessons for today, which we will start shortly. I've been enjoying a relaxing morning, so there hasn't been any rush to get things done, yet.

I think we've got another mouse, as I thought I saw something earlier. No doubt they will make their presence known, if we do

DDs made some pork dumplings yesterday. The recipe was from a Japanese recipe book that DD had for christmas. They were quite nice, although none of us liked the dipping sauce - sesame oil, rice vinegar and soy sauce. The girls had ketchup as a dip instead :D

One of the ingredients was sake, which DD2 now thinks is very nice. I've marked the bottle as it is very strong and I don't want any disappearing :rotfl:

We've got some apples that need using up so will be making a crumble later and a microwave sponge for DD1 as she wont touch apples [even in a dessert!]

Hope everyone has a good day :)

(((HUGS))) to those in need :)

  • (((bitsy))) you will settle down soon with his diagnosis. It is hard though x. A-ha got back together, I saw them likve in the O2 in Nov. They are doing their last tour next year though. I am quite a stalker, I'll be honest!

(((PP))) hope your FiL's passing is painfree.

Have been to the library. Why buy?!

    Also been to Mr S.

Now need to get on with my flying.

Baby woke last night but eventually got him settled again. Still exhausted though!

Best Wishes all. Have a good day

Hester - You would think a Job centre of all places would advertise a vacancy with some accuracy wouldn't you?

    Diva.x

Those machines they insist on you using in the Jobcentre are likewise rather carp.. I did a local search recently and got results from all round the country

Thrift you could try using some of that marmalade in cooking.. I am sure there must be a marmalade bread and butter pudding for example.even savoury stuff like chicken or duck???

Yes it is homemade :) but I can't take the credit for it. It's from Weezl's 50p a day thread - part 2. Recipe here It's so tasty and and can be altered to suit your tastes. Some chopped tomatoes or peppers in oil is a nice addition and you can use the oil in the pate mixture too. There are some brilliant healthy, frugal recipes on it, it's well worth a read. HTH

    Hi everyone,

Hester, I'm afraid the jobcentres seem to be fairly hopeless. We advertise vacancies there (as well as the local papers) and got over 75 applicants, over 50 of which had none of the wqualifications or experience we wanted. I think people are told they must apply for a certain number of jobs to qualify for jobseekers allowance so they apply to keep up the quota. Alot of the applicants had obviously put no thought into it. It's all very well for them but I'm the one who has to wade through the rubbish to make sure i don't miss anything. I sometimes feel like doing a David Brent and binning half, saying I won't employ someone who's unlucky.

DH was in terrible pain with a tooth abcess last night - he's at the dentist now. So instead of bein given lots of attention because I have to go for more breast screening I was dishing out the TLC to him!! Oh well, he is coming with me to the appointment which is something.

DD is learning to surf in Byron Bay, I spoke to her yesterday and she is happy and making friends (she has never met a stranger).

OS wise we need to get on with decorating and will be spending the third Waitrose voucher from the Telegraph tomorrow. I'm hoping to entice DS and Gf for a meal over the weekend as he has the two days off (a rare occurence). I'm also hoping that DH will be well enough to put the boxes of Christmas decs in the loft, I am tired of seeing them.

Hugs and best wishes to all in need - especially, PP, Tristan and Michelle, NPM and Lowesy.
