Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 22nd January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS lovelies wave.gif
Lowesy - Still thinking of you and your husbandhugs.gif
Jc - Sorry to hear about your hip/knee hon
Beemuzed - I had a friend round to visit too yesterday and made sure that the lounge, kitchen and bathroom were sparkly and tidy (Thank you home-help!) but the other doors were firmly shut as if they had opened one, a plethora of items would have toppled out and buried them like in a comedy show!
_Jo_ - Ouchies! Hope you feel better today hon and don't forget the arnica for the bruising.
SunnyGirl - You are all still in my thoughts hon
Mioliere - I love hearing about France and your life out there, thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Sunnyday - any luck with the kitchen cupboards?
Sistercas - The driver was not Tris' sister, it was a friend but thank you for the kind comments honey.
Elfen - Hope you had a good evening with your friends.
MrsMH - Happy your little one is feeling better today
Stefejb - Sorry to hear your poor daughter is going through such a horrid time and hope it is all sorted out soon.
Flutterby - I love Cardiff for shopping. Pleased you had a good day.
Mumof2 - Tristan is one of my oldest friends and Michelle is a friend of his who was driving him to hospital for an oncology appt.
Nic1 - Hope you are feeling better today.
thankyou.gif for your continued thoughts and prayers for Tris and Michelle. Tris is still having memory problems and is in a lot of pain. Michelles condition has not improved.

Had a nice time with my friend, and after wanting KFC for so long I have to say the Zinger burger did not disappoint. And I tried not to think how much I could have cooked for that same amount of money! We watched 'Terminator Salvation' which I enjoyed.
Finally updated my grocery challenge to see that with one week to go I am actually on target.. Wooohooooo, all that eating from the storecupboards and REALLY thinking before we spent anything has really worked. I have to admit I have missed doing my online grocery shop, but it makes more sense for my OH to just nip to the supermarket and pick up only what we need/want.
My raw cat food order arrived today from here. My cat is 15 yrs old and she seems to love raw food as much as her sachets, and after reading a lot of research about taurine and an older cats diet, I thought I would try the sample order. There is plenty of it and will try her on the first one tomorrow.

I hope today is the best it can be for everyone and that anyone feeling poorly gets better soon. With love, light and hugs to all.

Sorry to hear that Michelle hasn't improved, hope Tris's pain recedes soon.
The interview hubby has next week was supposed to be for a full time job in our local town centre, turns out the job is 3 hours a night in Luton. I really wonder about the Job Centre website, this is the 3rd job he's applied for where the location or hours are very different.
I discovered yesterday that if I give up all my extra lunch duties etc at work I could claim £87 a week working tax credits, tempting, but I'm not sure.

I bought a bag of potatoes & a head of broccoli for 19p, last night we had RTC sausages, mash, onion gravy & broccoli for 3 of us as DS came for tea, tonight we are having steak & kidney (from the freezer) with mash & broccoli & the broccoli stalk & the last potato has made broccoli & stilton soup, made with the last portion of stilton I was given Christmas before last). Well I say last portion, I though I'd already used it all up, but I think it's breeding in the freezer.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

Day off again. I thought I had to give evidence in court but it has been put back to next week, so I can do what I wish today now. Probably a trip to Truro for a little browsing ahead of my birthday and the best £5 lunch going.
Took everyone out to Pizza Hut last night using the 50% off voucher over there
    > Good value really. 6 ate for £30.

Not sure what to do for supper... loads of food in the house, so perhaps casserole, or gammon, or fajitas.... who knows?

    Have a good day....cheers

    Morning everyone.
More washing to add to the pile as despite a trip to the loo at his bedtime and then again at ours DS wet the bed in the small hours of the morning. He also stripped his bed yesterday afternoon and whilst I had friends and their children here he's ripped the memory foam on his bed  The most annoying thing is we don't own the foam, it belongs to my parents who are lending it to us until our own arrives
Diagnosis news still sort of sinking in. I finally had my cry yesterday - felt on the edge of doing so all afternoon but didn't have the opportunity until kids were in bed asleep. Eyes look like wee holes in the snow today though :o but feel better for getting that weepy emotion out. Today is a new day and like everyone has said nothing has changed.
Mindee coming today so not much OS going on. I might make some cheese scones if I get chance. What's for tea? Hmmmm no idea at the moment :rotfl: I swear I will get back to planning for next week :o

Diva - healing vibes for Tris and Michelle. I've seen Terminator Salvation. I was a bit disappointed with the film TBH (although not with the delectable Christian Bale <drools>). Yet again the ending seemed to be left open with no real closure - going to flog the story again for another film perhaps? Cynic? Moi? :rotfl:

NPM - I've got no advice what so ever but just wanted to send you some hugs. Thanks for sending the book, look forward to having a read when it arrives xxx

JC - I would be most excited at the return of Grey's Anatomy but I don't have Sky anymore so can't watch it on Living :(

Hester - sorry job centre is giving your H a run around. Sounds like they couldn't organise a p*ss up in a brewery ;)

MrsMortonHarket - I love your user name. Am a big fan of A-ha - bit sad they split up. Saw them in concert a few years ago......mmmm Morton just better with age LOL! Hope baby slept better for you x

lowesy - Hugs to you. How frustrating that they can't do the procedure until next Thurs - that really isn't on and just drags out the whole painful issue on even longer. Hope Bupa can help you - might not be MSE but I sometimes think that sanity saving is just as important xx

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

    Morning everyone :hello:

Early start here as the dog decided she couldn't keep her legs crossed any longer this morning and I couldn't get back to sleep.
Am stoking up on coffee, have put a wash on and prepped porridge for breakfast. Lunches for the girls of mango smoothie, tuna sandwiches, yoghurt and fruit salad were made last night. OH and I will have leftover macaroni cheese.
Tea is meatloaf using breadcrumbs made from the weeks loaf ends and some rtc mince. ;)
Other plans for the day include some filing in the office, a huge pile of laundry and a little gardening if there is time. I'm praying for a dry weekend so OH and I can spend the weekend sorting out the veggie patches.

Take care of yourself Bitsy. xxx
Hope you're doing as well as you can Lowsey. xxx
Sorry to hear od DD's troubles Stef. xxx
Thanks for the pm Cranky. Good to know you're doing ok. xxx

    TGIF everyone.:D

    morning all,

Off to work today, cant wait for tomorrow for a bit of a lay in, OH put all the insulation in the loft last night :T it makes SUCH a difference, its now warm and toasty upstairs, just the front door to get sorted, and then at least we will be warm.

Going to do hm pizza and salad for tea tonight, nice and easy and quick, dd is off to town with a friend for a bit of shopping, so i will pick her up at 5 from the station.

Lots of jobs to do tomorrow, huge amount to take to the tip, and OH needs to look at the floorboards up stairs which creak terribly and wake us all up. Think I might also buy some paint to get started on that next week.

I have not done any baking for ages, what with the move i just have not had time, would like to try and do some over the weekend.

Bitsy, big hug for you all, xxx

Lowsey, take care of yourself x

Stef, I know exactly what your dd is going through, I had an EX like that, its very scary, hope she is ok xx

Have good days all, off to make my lunch, dd has done hers.

Bitsy - I really don't like Christian Bale at all so for me he was the worst part of the film. I agree they will want to make another one, let's face it, it's a money making franchise, though I hope they don't personally. I was touched by the ending of the film though.
Hester - You would think a Job centre of all places would advertise a vacancy with some accuracy wouldn't you?
Haribo - nice to 'see' you!
sistercas - Yes it is spicy, really nicely spicy too... Mmmmm now I want another one and it will be months before I get one.. :rotfl::rotfl:Well done on your daughters' Parents evening comments, that is great!

Tonights dinner will be corned beef and pepper quiche made with cottage cheese as well as the eggs, and served with a big salad. I was going to be more adventurous but this is quick and easy and we love it, so why not..:)

    Morning All

(((hugs))) Lowesy, Bitsy & all that need one.

Positive thoughts sending across the pond Diva.

Sorry to hear that Hester - hope something comes up soon for OH

Ended up getting nothing done yesterday, received a phone call from school - DS had a bad fall on his elbow. Took him to hospital (which is 45 mins) each way, after loads of waiting we have been told that they don't think its broken but if the swelling hasnt gone down by Monday to go back.

So DS at home with me today, have a massive pile of paperwork on my desk and loads of phone calls to get though. No idea what is for dinner, menu planning didn't really happen this week so will have to think about that in a minute. At least the house isn't too bad and the ironing pile is small :j

Need to pop out and pick my laptop up from the pc man, its been playing up again. They've told me to keep an eye on it and if it goes again it needs a windows reload which will be a real pain so fingers crossed its sorted.

Need to have another cuppa and write my to do list for today - could take some time :D

    Have a good one.x

Did they not do an x-ray? Sorry after my FIL's bicycle accident end of last year after being discharged from hospital it turns out he was hobbling round with a fractured pelvis that they'd not noticed  Don't always have much faith in A&E TBH. Hope he's on the mend soon xx

Hester personally I would consider it - after all, they aren't all exactly appreciative of how much you do at the school, are they?! And I do get a bit worried about you & the Minder sometimes, you seem to live on fresh air whilst working your little socks off for little thanks & lots of ungratefulness. :A

Right, have said my piece..will slope off to work now!
