Ryanair - FairFX

Options
Like everyone else, I'm looking to avoid Ryanair booking fees. When I follow any links for the FairFX Anywhere card to apply for one, the page that comes up is for a card called the FairFX Currency card.

Can anyone please tell me if this is the same card???

Thanks :(

We now have a FairFX card for paying for Ryanair flights. As long as it's a prepaid Mastercard then you avoid the charges.
  • They refer to all cards as currency cards.

On the order page it says "Apply for a FairFX Currency Card in Sterling, Euros or US Dollars." Just make sure you apply for the sterling one and this will be the 'anywhere card'.

Do it through Topcashback and they will pay you £7.50.

    Or quidco.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

FairFx charge 1.5% on what you spend on the card. But if you've got the £7.50 cashback you will be in profit until you have spent £500 on flights.

A lot of people have said that CaxtonFX beats FairFX but it is not that simple. This can be true once you get overseas for small ATM withdrawals but I have also read that FairFX use a much better exchange rate than CaxtonFX and so for shop transactions and large ATM withdrawals FairFX is better.

For GBP transactions e.g. booking RyanAir flights, the FairFX card wins as long as the payment is for less than £100. This is because they charge 1.5% and CaxtonFX charge a flat fee of £1.50.

    Note: FairFX claims otherwise.

They do on their £ Sterling card, it's the ONLY charge you need to pay.

Wow - lying about fees is a serious matter.

By the way, I asked FairFX about the fees and they replied:

Usage of the FairFX cards is absolutely free at any point of
sale, for example, if you pay for a meal at a restaurant.
