    Thanks X 10. :T

on a forum I know, we can personalise and set six default smilies, promise I'm not imagining things

I'd like to set these as mine:
    :p:D:o :lovethoug iy3onc.gif :cheesy:
some of them ^ are purely to woo and manipulate to control fifer, ted and gingham :snow_grin
looks like there's a fault with the happyhear smilie by the way
  • I'm sorry, but if someone can get upset or feel offended by the sarcastic and confused smilies, they shouldn't be using a forum at all.

This forum is open to everyone, and we want it to be as welcoming and inclusive as possible.

Sadly many, many abuse reports each day have shown that this isn't the case for a lot of new posters.

As I said above, we are sorry for the inconvenience of this, but we believe it will help make MSE a place people can come and comfortably feel that no question is too simple to be asked, and that they will always get a pleasant response.

As other posters have pointed out, removing these two smiley will not solve the problem on its own, so please report to abuse any other instances of posters being unpleasant to each other, especially new posters.

    Thanks

The vast majority of people are nice to other MoneySavers all of the time.

Sadly, a small proportion who aren't create a large amount of discord and cause offence.

    And everyone gets blamed :confussed:

Far from it, the negative posting causes a huge resource issue, which has led to this decision.

The problem is clear and has been ongoing for some time.

Unfortunately, this solution is rather silly.

    Sorry to be blunt. :o

The problem is not the smileys IMO, it is the PEOPLE, maybe you should be looking at ways to sort that instead:cool:

Come on Dan, I can't believe that someone would report a post, for the smilies contained in it.

I understand completely if people are offended or upset by the text in the post, but by a little picture of a face?

I may not be able to post those anymore, but what's stopping me telling someone to foxtrot oscar? (Not that I would, but do you see what I mean?)

Words on a screen are much harsher than a little cartoon face.

If someone really has reported that someone has "confused faced me!", or "sarky faced me!", they really need to get a life! :rotfl::rotfl:

Surely that includes the thousands of existing members aswell though? This decision doesn't seem to be taking them into regard.

I'm lost for words how insane this is. _42970777_confused_203.jpg
