A CCA is the Consumer Credit Act. Its to do with unenforceability. If you have any credit agreements taken our before April 2007 the debt may be unenforceable (ie gets cleared).
I'm not sure how it works and i believe it to be quite a long arduous complicated process. There are a few guys on here who are the gurus at it so i'm going to start a new thread. As my Barclaycard was taken out in the March 2007 the card has 04/2007 i'm might even be barking up the wrong tree. But we will see!0 -

Hi Losing
You are doing so well and moving so fast through this process...sending big hugs and instructions to eat something! It's going to be ok.
I was told a £10 token payment was very generous, that £5 or two would do, and to save anything over...also that I'd to treat all creditors the same, and send the same payment...this was advice from mse a diff thread to this.
I sent dmp notification letter and did internet payments of £2 to each creditor.
I think once cccs have yoyr first payment then you leave it all up to them...I think, my first payment is 1st march.
Oooh have you got a new account with a cheque book.....thought we couldn't!
Big hugs, you are doing fab!
Oh thanks Mama! Hugs go most appreciated, right back atcha! Well the "new" bank account isnt really new, it was an old joint account we had with the TSB that we havent used for about 4 years, so rather than mess about setting up a new one I have just transferred everything over to that. Hubby says that was fine even though his name is on it, I am just going to use it as my own account.
The only problem with doing an internet payment is that the lady on the phone when I spoken to CCCS initially says that if they have your bank details somteimes they will attempt to use them without your permission to make payments to themselves, so I was a bit wary of doing this with my new account. I may just get 7 postal orders for a tenner and send them with the DMP letter then. However, on Egg can you pay via postal order? It says on their website "You should make your cheque payable to 'Egg, (Account Holder Name(s)), (Account Number)'. eg Egg, Mr Smith, 12345678 (draw a line through any unused space on the payee line so that no-one can add extra numbers or words). " If I sent a cheque to egg would I still have to do this, ie make it payable to myself? Or make it payable to Egg, would they even cash a postal order?
I would to be honest prefer to pay them all by internet payment but like i said am just a little worried that they would use my bank for their own means.
I am not going to contact the Natwest until the very last direct debit has come out (this will be 7th MArch, then this stops them freezing the account or anything before my last payment is made. After 7th March everything will then be coming out of the new bank, and salary and child benefit going in, so there should be o activity on my old current account at all (apart from their charges for the overdraft!). SO then I can tell them about the DMP. WIll this be OK? I will then send them a token payment and also the natwest credit card.
How long will it be now before I hear from CCCS confirming the plan will be set up to start on 1st April?
Thanks xxx

Hi sorry to butt in, just lurking. Do you have a link explaining this? All my credit was taken out in 2004 but there must be more to it than that?0 -

I didn't know this, surely that's fraud - are these people above the law??
When i was actually paying my debts i always paid online, so they'd have my details anyway wouldn't they? Just i'd rather do it online but not if there's a risk like this, i mean - surely that's a police matter if an unrelated bank take money from your personal bank account?0 -
Losing The last transactions on our old account were the token payments, when they'd been processed and all dds had come out we sent the dmp info! I'd no idea they could take unauthorised money, other than the ofsetting thing, surely that just the same as when i had my card details stolen and some toe rag was booking themselves flights and holidays...of course that happened when it was an early payday, so they'd three days to go wild. I.F. were very good with that, hope they are going to be with dmp....am doubting it.
Not sure about egg and postal orders, can you email them a question to save you having to speak?
WE were about a week after the signed paperwork was sent back to the cccs.DMP mutual support thread member 371LBM Jan 2010DMP Paddle No 20 -

Hi Beeniecat,
Never in Doubt has a thread explaining everything. its a long read but if your all debt was pre 2007 who knows what happen. i'd have a read then maybe start a thread and he'll probably have a look and answer some of your questions.
