    Oh it's all got a bit pear-shaped...:(:(

My car has just had it's MOT and it's going to cost me £400 :eek:...the £400 I was going to use for my first DMP payment so I'm not sure what to do!?

I obviously HAVE to pay for the car (I have no luck with cars, I may just get a push-bike!), but may need to push DMP payment to April 1st (oh the irony) as I now don't have the cash to cover it.

Am so cross as I was finally getting on top of everything and now it's all gone wrong!! :(

Do you think the CCCS will be ok with April payment date instead? I know my creditors will have kittens but I can send them token payments again until April.

    Urrrrgggh. Feel really rubbish now.

  • VICB - CCCS will probably be fine, as for the creditors, try not to worry to much, a token payments better than nothing at all.

Oh true dont be like that, you're doing brilliant. The work will help take your mind of it all Im sure. As my nanna would say "chin up hinny" :D

Vic  cant believe it, that was the one thing I was so afriad of, the big unexpected costs. But as Ted says CCCS will be fine. In fact they make a point of reminding you to let then know if you cant make payments for stuff like that. At least you're getting it out of the way now... and remember you're paying with hard cash not plastic so hey well done :T

Welcome dogsrus hope it all goes well for you.

Tedsd glad your post wasnt too scary... mine hasnt arrived yet

Thanks for the advice guys, it really is sods law! I HATE my car!!:mad:

For some reason I'm really nervous about phoning CCCS (mental, I know) but I'm hoping they'll be fine. Annoying I get paid in the middle of the month too and it doesn't work as well with the CCCS payment :(

I going to escape the office in a minute and try and call...

  • Hi,

Just on late lunch, gonna start my first lot of token payment letters, sent all the stuff to CCCs yesterday so I am hoping they will get the ball rolling and start my DMP on the 1st April as i have asked.

Do I send a token payment letter AND the Notification of DMP letter together? Or do I send these separately? Or do I just need to send the token of DMP letter on it's own? Also, how much should I send them, does it have to be equally split between the creditors at this point or can I just send them all, say, £15 each at this stage?

WHen I start paying CCCS on the 1st April (hopfully) in the month of April do I have to send any more token payments or do I leave it all to the CCCS payments from then on in?

And will I be ok sending a cheque from my new bank accoutn or would you advise against this and send postal orders instead.

Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to minimise the stress and make sure everything is right before I do it, as i have had a really stressful couple of weeks and to be honest Im feeling quite ill from it all, not sleeping, not eating, constant sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, cant concentrate on work, and I really appreciate your help on here - thankyou for any replies!

    Hi Losing
You are doing so well and moving so fast through this process...sending big hugs and instructions to eat something! It's going to be ok.
I was told a £10 token payment was very generous, that £5 or two would do, and to save anything over...also that I'd to treat all creditors the same, and send the same payment...this was advice from mse a diff thread to this.
I sent dmp notification letter and did internet payments of £2 to each creditor.
I think once cccs have yoyr first payment then you leave it all up to them...I think, my first payment is 1st march.
Oooh have you got a new account with a cheque book.....thought we couldn't!
Big hugs, you are doing fab!

Losing please please try not to worry you will be fine. Im sure of it. I know this is the most scariest thing in the world. Ive been putting it off since 2007! But we've all taken the first step and trust me, its not as bad as you think. You are doing the right thing!
    Ok, answers.
Yes send the notification and token together, keeps everything straight forward and you dont have to write another letter to go with the payment.
You can send the same amount to all creditors. Most people send a £1 postal order. DO NOT SEND A CHQ. Basically this is so your creditors dont get your new banks details. It will cost you for the postal order but its safer. Make sure they have been crossed though. Send them and the notification to the usual payment address. This can be hard to find esp if you normally pay by direct debit or online. Give us a shout if you're stuck with any Im sure one of us will have it.
I wouldnt bother sending more than one token payment. Unless your DMP is put back for any reason. Once they've got the payment and the notification letter they know whats going on and they will be waiting for the next payment from CCCS.
Bascially you'll have done your bit.
You can then sit back, wait for the acceptances (try not to get to hang up on these though) and sort out your first payment to CCCS.
I hope that helps make you feel a bit better. You're not alone and you can do this :)
    Hang in there :grouphug:

Phew!...Called the CCCS, no problems to change to April 1st....so I really will become an April Fool! :rotfl:

The CCCS are really THE most helpful people...I think I'm in love :heartpuls

Not ideal but at least my cars sorted for another year, token payments for March it is.

Losing - I sent the DMP notification letter, then a few weeks later (when bills were due to be paid) I sent another letter with token payments (£5 each, which is more than enough). I sent mine by cheque from my new a/c, I don't have a cheque guarantee card though...and they've all banked them!

Don't make yourself ill Hun, remember we're all in the same boat and supporting you, you'll get there...we all will *HUGS* x
