Mamajojo you have my deepest sympathese, I have one of the lovely DHs who asked the very same thing when given his dd's to change. Honestly I had to write everything down for him in case they asked a DIFFICULT question. I went into the bank on Saturday to open an account. They took the details etc but I have not had anything from them yet. Did anyone else visit the bank to open an account, if not how quickly did they set up an account if you just phoned them? Only reason I went to the bank was I thought they would open an account there and then. Just shows how long I've been with my bank:question:
Also do you get them to set up the DDs for the accounts that will be covered by the DMP or just the ones like Council Tax, Gas, Electric etc? Just wondered how they'd feel swapping all the DDs one month and then having to close the DMP ones the next month. If PayPlan administer the DMP will they stop the DDs for the DMP?Paddle No 21 :wave:0 -
sorry Gibbs you've got the lovely job of swapping all the DDs yourself. Best to phone them, give them new details then wait until they confirm in writing then cancel old DDs. Payplan will give you details of where to send your PMP payment then they will do the distribution for you. I opened a co-op account on the phone, stuff arrived in about a week and that was in middle of Christmas hols, so I thought quite efficient. You should cancel all the DDs to your creditors once you start paying your token payments, you don't want them to whip all the money out of your account. You're making good progress, what date are you starting your DMP?More than Two Years in

Interesting, the bumph on their website says they will contact the old bank and transfer all the DDs/SOs. Couple of options, either they will close the old account when they switch the DDs and wages going into new account, or I can close it when I get confirmation that the things have switched. Has this now changed? Looked like they even promised not to muck it up and if they did they would rectify any incurred costs. I haven't sorted the PayPlan DMP yet since I wanted to give them the new account etc. Hence wondering if I should include the DMP DDs or ask them to only swap certain ones, leaving the DMP ones with the old account that will no doubt get frozen.
This is a great site:DPaddle No 21 :wave:0 -
Hi Gibbs- I too thought the co-op would do all the direct debit swapping for me...told me on the phone when I set up the account they would, but, when I rang to ask them to do it they said no, do it yourself, but very nicely! hours later and 20+ calls later I have done it myself...today!
Think I deserve a nice glass of wine for doing that, well a 3 for a tenner glass anyway:beer:DMP mutual support thread member 371LBM Jan 2010DMP Paddle No 20 -
Will make sure I take the printed off bumph when I go in then. Trade discription act surely if they won't do it? In fact as I thought they would open the account on the day, I had taken the filled in form, that I'd downloaded and printed off, with me. Lady at the desk said it would be included in the stuff I'd receive if accepted, probably with a pre-paid envelope and I should tick the options I wanted, then send it back.Paddle No 21 :wave:0

i asked for them to do it and they di say they would send a form but the time scale was unrealistic, it was going to take much longer than it took me. I think if you've got time they will do it but I just wanted it sorted as fast as poss and although I was really careful, 2 went off incorrectly, I've caught them but it could have been drastic, so this is me back in OCD mode.More than Two Years in

I think I have time, it will just mean for sure there will be no float money in the account when it does get sorted in a month or two, at this rate. I think I have just enough float money to cover two months.
:Tfor the answers.

Rang coop tonight to open a cashminder guy on phone was very helpful. Said I had been accepted and should receive details in next couple of days. Think I am going to sort out DDs myself as I want to change the date on a couple of them to cover my child support cheque to be cleared in time before everything comes out. One thing I assume I dont move the DD for my loan over to my new account but leave it where it is?0
