p.s. how come you all have so much time to chat
Well I can't answer for everyone, but I know I spend my entire day on here trying to avoid housework :rotfl:
Vic Carnaby Street? Really? Now I'm even MORE jealous!! Cornwall is gorgeous but its so sleepy (esp for a former city girl - I was born in Sheffield, miss the city soooooo much!)
I can't really help on the chic-lit although I really enjoy Tony Parson's work especially The Family Way. Also love Joanne Harris. Have you read Alice Seabold's The Lovely Bones? Defo worth a look, very well written. I'm sitting here looking at my bookshelf trying to think what I can recommend lol!! Oh, chic-lit, there you are - anything by Adele Parkes, very "read on the beach".
Nat abseilling whilst pregnant? I'm sensing a touch of adrenaline junkie??

Morning All!
True - Yes I am very lucky, I absolutely LOVE being in London, shame it's so expensive to do anything (although there's plenty to do for free too!). I'm a complete city girl so not sure how I'd cope out in the country....although I always said if I won the lottery I'd buy a big house in the country and a St Bernard dog! Lol!
Thanks for all the book suggestions everyone, will definitely look them up.
I have read The Lovely Bones, a while ago though. A friend said the new film isn't up to scratch, which is a shame...hate when they make a rubbish film out of an amazing book, what they did to Shopaholic was scandalous!
If you've after cheap books try http://www.abebooks.co.uk/ all second hand, you do pay P&P but much cheaper than new.
After all this book talk I realised I've never re-read a favourite book, so I dug out Onwards & Upwards by Arabella Weir, I remember it being very funny. Let's hope it still is!
Anyway...better do some work, hope you all have a good day! :jPaddle No 16

I agree re: the film of The Lovely Bones, was such a shame. But then they screwed up The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, Atonement, not to mention the Harry Potters
I've had the phone plugged in today, in anticipation of letters being received and phone calls being made, but so far its all quiet! Fingers crossed xxPaddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
Has anyone tried http://www.readitswapit.co.uk/TheLibrary.aspx for books?
I've swapped a few on there, good if you don't like to keep books after reading them. I've registered on there, I'm quite addicted to buying books, but I buy way more than I ever manage to read, so I'm not allowing myself to 'buy' anymore until the pile I have has shrunk! But I can still swap!!0 -
Hope everyone is well ...we will all be debt free one day!
things on my DMP have settled except for a B0S loan which only had £250 to go. They keep denying they have heard from me or CCCS even though I phoned right at the beginning to say I am on a DMP and sent the documents. When they still ignored this I phoned and asked where best to send the info and they gave me another address yet still they keep sending in final demands and plead ignorance
grrrr£12 799 debt 16.10.2009 :eek:0 -
More good news for me, got a barclaycard statement today, and although they've sent nothing else to agree to the DMP it says on the statement my monthly payment has been lowered to the interest the amount CCCS offered so I guess that's their way of agreeing?? Also they didn't add any interest last month ... YAY!!!
So far 3 down 8 to go ......
Capital one however despite ringing me several t0 -
Whoops.... I was saying...
Capital One - Ring the home phone several times a day but wont speak to me as the debts not in my name, it's in the OH's, (we're doing joint DMP), but despite ringing several times a day have now told CCCS that we don't exist and they have no record of his account?0 -
Hi All,
Just a quick update on my situation. Have recieved my new sparkly Barclays debit card, even though I asked for a cash card only and the assistant insisted that I needed to see the manager before I could apply for a debit card
I have receieved my letters from CCCS and 4 of my creditors have no record of my accounts as they are in my maiden name. Therefore had to send out letters with my change of name and copy of my wedding certificate
I would share my age but I'm too shy and sad that so late in life I have had my LBM :rotfl:
Got to go but will catch up later.
Lets all have a happy journey together. PMA :TLive for Today, Nobody is guaranteed Tomorrow:happylove0
