ooops posted last one with no reply...Gosh True, you put me to shame with your groceries at £150...how are you doing it? How long would you have to carry on at that amount with CAB? Have you tried Payplan? Looks like you could do with something in between both amounts, ie. CAB and CCCS... Good luck if you go for self managing, at those amounts I can't see any creditors saying you're overspending! And, you still have MSE for support and you can ask a CCCS counsellor a question anytime...

£150 has been a bit tough, we settled at £170 for a while! I did it with Mr T's online - literally reading every single label, comparing cost per gram etc. Plus I'm lucky to have an OH and DB who will eat whatever is put in front of them :D! I literally buy blue stripe everything - except coffee, loo roll and dog food (bless her, gets an upset tummy on cheap stuff - luckily the cat is a value fan!) but I get the dog food online using Quidco, so get free delivery and cashback!! Oh, and I quit drinking - was easily spending £30 a week on booze previously.

We do however spend more than the CCCS like on things like our Sky package (only by a fiver), mobile contracts (so OH can have his gizmo) and car maintenance (because its a new car and worth keeping the warranty happy) so it does balance out accross the board - but I guess things like that are a personal choice which the DMP companies don't really take into account IYSWIM. The more I think about it, the more I think self-managing is the way to go, especially with all the support and tricks of the trade that I've picked up on here.

Oh I remember the sleep strike days, mine's 9 and still does that sometimes! It does get better though, honest ;)

  • :jGood News on Saturday!!

    Morning All

Got my statement from barclaycard this morning and it appears that they too have accepted the DMP, no interest and a stern warning to make sure we pay the agreed minimum.:T And OH spoke to a real live person at Cap 1 and it appears that we may be getting them to see sense as well:T Just need to sort out Lloyds and we are nearly there. Just worked out the budget on the main account, moved all the yearly things to another account and just left the actual money for this month and believe it or not it looks OK:T No weekends in Paris obviously, but there is money there for what we need,, phew

  • Afternoon peeps, welcome to the newbies .

Good luck True if you're going it alone. I thought you were a CCCS babe like the rest of us :).

Well done, Pure Dead Dopey :). I'm waiting to hear from Barclaycard/Mercer too, so i hope this is a good sign... i've heard they can be a nightmare to deal with. Cap1 have recently accepted my DMP, so i hope you get a good result with them too :T.

Good luck with applying for the Co-op a/c, GibbsRule :). IMO the only problem with them, is it can take days or even a week before transactions are up-dated on-line. The only way to get an up-to-date balance is to phone the call centre. It's a bit of a bum-ache.... but otherwise they are fine to deal with :).

Nothing in the post today from any creditors, so the wait continues....

Have a jolly weekend everyone

Well I'm still a babe its just the CCCS bit thats different :p:rotfl: lol!!!

Think I've definitely maybe decided that self-managing is the way to go. Phone doesn't bother me so much now I've pulled the plug again :D and I will definitely stay hanging around and probably get you lovely people to let me copy your CCCS letters ;)

Trying really hard to have a NSW over here, but the rugger is on and you can't watch rugger without a Guiness! Its just not right :rotfl: must try to remember that my waistline has returned since jumping back on the wagon though :p

Hope we're all having a lovely time??

Be careful with CCCS. Not all my creditors would suspend interest. HSBC refused their arrangement, but the CCCS did not tell me this. This meant they would not cancel the Standard Order which feeds the loan (and I could not do it online, was a special SO!) , and I was charged nearly £100 (now refumded after a complaint!). However, they're still refusing CCCS agreement, and say the debt will go to a debt management company in six months unless the payments I agreed to are made.

Also, CCCS often mess up payments to my creditors. I get paid on 15th and have a SO to pay CCCS the £191 month. However, for some strange reason, this means that in some months, they make duplicated payments to creditors in one month, and then no payments to creditors in the next! These missed payments mean the creditors cease the agreement and then begin to start charging interest! I have to really keep on top of the payments they make, and then call each creditor whenever they mess it up! Nightmare!! Also the creditors are then likely to report defaults in those months.

Also, as only a few creditors will stop the interest, it means the CCCSs idea of when the debt will be paid off is actually very unrealistic!!

I've applied for a 10k loan from my credit union at work. I don't have CCJs just late payments/defaults so hope they give me the loan. They tell me they only do a credit check in order to look for CCJs, and I've prooved my income and sent bank statements. I aim to make full and final resettlement offers to the creditors directly to pay off the debts at around 60% of the balances, and use the remaining loan to buy a small car. Loan repayments come straight out of my salary.

Lesson is that the CCCS is good but not perfect, and if you can be mithered, you should just manage it yourself, or better still try and consilidate.

Hi all, well I have had a positive week.. my HSBC bank card has arrived finally so i now have a bank account!! :) Have spent the last few days transferring direct debits and have doubley checked my wages are going to be paid into the right account.
Had my pack from CCCs all on the same day! Set up my Direct debit for the 1st March so Im getting there!

I have had NO phone calls yet - not even Egg who I have cancelled the D/D with now.. still time though!
Im feeling so positive with this - I just have to pray that they all except the DMP now and stop interest etc
Shall probably be getting those letters through in the next few weeks..

All in all a good week! :j

Thanks for the tip, I guess it shows not everything is always perfect... such is life ;)

Thats cool Kaths. Lucky you not getting calls from Egg, wonder how you managed to pull that off?!?!?

Mixed bag of post this morning. A letter from CCCS saying bank of scotland wouldnt accept the payments... not cos its was too low, but because they had no record of our account. How bizzare! Got to wait till monday before I can try and sort it out.
John Lewis sent their monthly statement, which was all fine. But due to the circumstances of my account (Im not going to pay them properly anymore) they are not going to give me my voucher. You normally collect points when you spend and you then get a voucher. So peev'd, it was only £10 but that was gonna get something for the little one.
And Natwest sent their statement, and they cheekily added 13p interest. Dont know what thats for?

Quite funny when you get the statements, cos they still ask for the min payment and the money you didnt pay last time. Um, let me think, should I pay it, nope!!
